TLDR: Feminists making a BIG thing out of a Atelier Sophie figure, crying sexual assault and cp, huffpost jp picks it up writes article and asks KT to answer. Theres a bit more to the story but I dont feel like writing about it right now and my esl is also not helping.
Edited my comment, my shitty english and me seething isnt helping but KT hasnt apologized yet. My point is that this thing didnt happen before is now happening, like big feminist and lawyer accounts quoting famitsu? and getting 10k+ likes? before it used to be when anything otaku related entered into the "public sphere" like city collabs (onsen musume/love live) or that blood donation collab (uzaki chan) etc, now they are attacking posts from famitsu AND getting traction and making their friends who work in the media to write articles about it. You are right though, we are at this stage because more often than not, cowards apologize and get cancelled. Western social media might paint this as some non issue since its everyday commonplace thing in english speaking twitter (look at the state of western gaming) but for jp I think this impacts creators and makes them self-censor. Its like an attack from both sides, western sjw branch pressuring from one side and now even "people" from their own country are pressuring. Looking at it this way, unrelated to KT, but its hardly surprising that Manya (from a franchise heavily reliant on japanese fanbase) of all characters suddenly got censored. It adds up and apparently devs and creators are just as stupid.
I ended up writing more than I planned, oh the seethe.....
