Fucking hell, this is the first time I've seen an anime banned in Australia.
probably some anime will be ban soon too , what i undustand is than RC was arbitrary and because the SA best party shit move 2020 focus on manga , the border take some anime and manga and RC them.maybe this end if some people complain alot or the new governement stop this for a better relationship with japan ( diplomacy with japan is probably the most import for them so wait and see)
NZ already ban some anime in 2013 (high school DxD) and Australian ban so many games , i think is time for australian too bench thatt shit border control for art.

Diplomacy won't do a thing. Labor or Liberal, we get the exact same authoritarian bulllshit.

I was just wondering with Australia's border rules regarding ordering LN, how often do they check the contents inside the package? I remember ordering 装甲悪鬼村正 (Soukou Akki Muramasa) and despite the cover having sex scenes on there, they still let it through customs.
If for example I order NGNL linnies (In Japanese) is there a chance that they'll check it or? do I have to call my lawyer lmao?

It's entirely random. You have to pray the customs officer looking at your package doesn't decide to open it arbitrarily.

Yes, Australian Customs will Confiscate and destroy prohibited items if they find them coming into the country, you can also be fined or charge trying to get them in.
Luckily, less then 2% of imports are checked, though with something that may be banned as CP it might not be a good gamble.
This was more then just listed, they also attempted to get 18+ models banned.

Some of the others pulled physically were:
They require classification, which requires people who want to import and sell them to submit them to the classifications board, that costs money, quite a bit of money too.
Books and publications in Australia typically do not need to go through that classification process unless they "contain sexualized nudity or sexually explicit content." Kinokuniya and other book importers for manga and light novels don't usually go through the process of classification when they're imported from the United States – who use their own system of classifying books – unless it is brought to the attention of the Classification Board
If they are refused classifications they will now get confiscated at customs if found and can no longer be sold legally in the country. You also get none of the money back that you paid.
Also I know from close experience that the board is both incompetent and corrupt, so you know great all round.

Video games are another, I know some companies don't bother getting games classified in AUS because a failure means they can't be imported.
They rely on their fans to just import the game themselves, bypassing the need for classification and the shit stores like EB games etc.
This is normally done on more niche titles.

Inside Mari is actually available for purchase again!!
Would you mind giving a few more details if you can?
Why did they unbanned it? Is it now available at any store that sells light novels and manga?
Are there other previously banned works that have been unbanned?

I cant say for sure but I don't see any reason why they would bother to manipulate novels. It has the same page-count and ISBN too.

I think it was some sort of quick ban but nothing about it was actually bad so it came back, at least that's what I assume considering its on Amazon now.
The series is about to go OOP afaik but every volume except for 3 is within AmazonAUS - for either censorship or just stock reasons. @Ebicentre
