Fire Emblem If(Fates) Translation Mod

Update: we got the patcher working with the JPDLC CIA.

Bad news is it was made with a 600MB dump with placeholders in mind. If you dumped your own version and it isn't around 600MB the patcher won't work. If you don't have access to the 600MB version of the dlc cia worry not, we're working on tweaking the patcher now. Those placeholders look ugly in the menu anyways.

This seems very hasty to ask, but I figured it should be asked anyway: once the base game gets translated, does Team if plan on translating the DLC? I'm aware that it's a lot of work, and also probably why not even the Nintendo Treehouse bothered to touch it (alongside their localization's general bad reception).

Yes we are planning on translating the Festival DLC as well.

Oh, if you want to play Revelations before it's done and you're having trouble patching the dlc even with the 600 mb copy, make sure there are no special characters in the name of the cia file

The cutscenes don't seem to have any subtitles. I'm guessing that's because the subtitles are harder to add into the game? Are the cutscenes ever going to have subtitles?

If anybody is having problems patching the Game and DLC cias
you can do the following if you own a 3DS/2DS

  1. Press and hold (Start), and while holding (Start), power on your device. This will launch GodMode9
  2. Navigate to [0:] SDCARD -> cias
  3. Press (A) on the .cia file to select it, then select “CIA image options…”
  4. Select the option to perform the desired function:
    • Decrypt to 0:/gm9/out: Create a decrypted copy of the selected .cia file in the /gm9/out/ folder on your SD card
    • Decrypt inplace: Replace the selected .cia file with a decrypted version
  5. Your encrypted / decrypted .cia will be outputted to the desired location

if possible, change the name to FE if Game and FE if DLC if possible ( as it been noticed special characters does affect the patching process )
it should go without problems if doing the following
it works with the hshop backups as well
mostly just make sure to decrypt them before using the patcher

intructions taken from the 3DS Hack Guide tutorial

I really hope that someone somewhere is currently working on an uncensor mod for Dragon Quest's Zenithian trilogy (4, 5, and 6) for the Nintendo DS. The localizations removed all references to puff-puffs, and many characters, at least in 4 (the only one I've played so far) have stupid accents that make characters harder to understand. Oddly enough, Dragon Quest 8 came out before the Zenithian trilogy, and it didn't censor the puff puffs.

What's the difference between the undub patch and the undub sync patch?

I saw some of the stuff they did in DQ11 and cringed pretty hard. After Fates is done we're going to be fixing the censored scenes in Awakening, but we won't be doing a ground up re-translation like we did here. It will be more akin to what was done with Engage.

The sad thing is that Dragon Quest 11 probably has the least horrible localization in the entire series. It didn't censor any of the puff-puff scenes, and the dialogue is at least legible enough for me to empathize with characters.

There's also a mod on Nexus Mods to restore character names to their original Japanese names, though said mod doesn't seem to cover the 2D parts of the game.

Also, isn't this one much easier?
considering that the European release came uncensored ( pretty weird the US got sligtly censored in the first place honestly )

I got a physical copy of Awakening myself, one of my very first 3DS games I bough for my now abandoned Old 3DS XL

The European version censored some of the dialogue in one of the DLC chapters.

Nowi comments on Tharja's boingy bits in the North American version. In the European version, Nowi instead comments on Tharja's hair.

Interestingly, Tharja's character bio is censored in all English versions. In the Japanese version, her bio mentions her body. In the English version, it instead mentions her having the "darkest thoughts".

Yes, we will be using the European version as a base, because reverting the censored dialogue will be easier than replacing the picture

The main stories are completely done but Birthright has grammar errors out the ass and both it and Revelations need to be swapped with the new country names. I'm working on them both as I type this. Along with a new batch of second gen supports.
