How do they keep getting away with this shit?

I'm out of the loop on all this, are we hating this game because it's like the Breath of The Wilds?

I'm extremely torn on the new reveals. As much as I did enjoy my time with SwSh I can recognize how little the series has done to actually get better over the years. I'm curious what an "open-world" pokemon game would be like but haven't even really cared enough to look at the trailer that was released, refusing to buy into the hype and will just wait to see when it comes out.

And this thing

I cannot pin down if I love it or hate it. I don't like the hands, but otherwise it's freakin' adorable. What a weird choice this other company went with.

Why try when everyone is gonna eat up your product regardless? It's unfortunate that a series that a lot of us grew up with went in this direction but guess we just gotta live w/ it 'till people get more uppity about it, which doesn't seem to be happening :/

It's a cute art style. I can see what they were trying to do, essentially trying to recreate the style of Gen 4 in 3D but it turned out to be jarring given the style of 3D Gamefreak themselves were using. I've got mixed feelings about it too but at the very least it couldn't possibly look as barren as Sw/Sh did... right?

i hate it because pokemon keeps on being the worst looking first party game despite being the most profitable franchise ever. gamefreak are lazy af
I hear you, personally I don't think the new one looks awful, but I do agree they should allocate more money into the art department.

I was told that the outsourcing was done due to a scheduling constraint on GameFreak so I wonder if the art choice was part of that too. The worst part for me is that it swaps between the weird 3D Chibi style to what looks like a SwSh clone for the battle scenes. It doesn't sit right with me having the style change that massively. I know that sort of happened in the old games, but this feels like much more of a severe change. I do kind of like the chibi style on it's own though, aside from some minor stuff like what @Theanticrumpet mentioned with the hands.

I couldn't care less about the sweeping view over a grassy hilltop. That's a pretty generic game/movie scene. What I was more concerned about for the Arceus game was the fact that the fucking gameplay demo they showed had multiple cases of frame drop/lag. When I played SwSh it was pretty apparent that the Switch wasn't powerful enough, and if they're still trying to push more out of it, I worry this game is going to have serious performance issues.

I haven’t played a pokemon game since swsh and I honestly didn’t play much of it. I feel like this new game is gonna be interesting to see. If there is a game series that needs experimenting, its Pokémon

The chibi style is okay, but there definitely are aspects where it should be improved on.
Even a bit of outline shading would have made it look far better.

I haven't pay attention to pokemon sense the gen 1 anime, and all I got with returning to it with SwSh now being my first pokemon game was liking all the pokemon I haven't seen before (Joltik being my favorite). Was left pretty bored with the game and haven't bother to finish it, though that may be do to everyone leveling up together. I may check the older gen games sense I have no interest in the upcoming ones.

I certainly say the hand is the major problem, if they weren't so big it would overall be cute.

Japan have always reused animations. For example this slide animation have been used more times than I can remember.

But I'm not a fan of the animal crossing art style it doesn't fit.

From what I was told apparently recent Digimon games are pretty good. Maybe it's time to switch the franchises?
I've always really enjoyed the Digimon games (even the stage fighting ones were pretty fun) but I've not tried any from the last... 6-7 years? Might be worth a dip, I probably like Digimon more than Pokemon in general anyway.

Probably. I also recommend checking out the surprisingly underrated Yo-Kai Watch. Sadly it seems like any future entries will not he localized (both due to Level 5’s American branch closing and some admittedly poor sales). Though the first 3 games as well as one spin-off have been released in English, all on the 3DS. My personal recommendation is to start with the second game since it pretty much retcons the first game out of existence. As for what version. Psychic Specters is practically the Emerald/Platinum of Yo-Kai Watch 2 so I’d go with that version. It has all the version exclusives.

Damn Shame Yo-Kai Watch doesn't seem all that bad what with all the Rule34 art of the fox chick online. Other than that? It's just sucky no more games are coming out.

Bro...Kyubi is a guy...anyways. The 4th game came out in Japan and uhh....it ran rather poorly on the switch. So much so that they had to essentially break their exclusivity with Nintendo and port it over to the PS4 (where it runs much better). A remake of the first game was also released and is also on PS4. The latest entry in the franchise is.....spin-off. It’s a game based upon the Yo-kai Watch Jam: Yo-kai Academy Y spin-off series. Which is essentially “hey what if we made all the yokai human, put it in a school setting, and mixed all that with Kamen Rider.”. That seems to be the basic gist of it.

yup. Damned shame the Switch version is what broke the camel's back. So we might see the game's release in Merica for PS4 now. :/
