So, this was a fucking kick in the teeth. :gura-pain:

This is unquestionably the biggest loss to hololive since its inception. What a fucking mess. I wonder if this is an isolated event or the first of other departures. The official announcement implies that this was Coco's choice, but we can only trust this sort of PR shit so much.

There are so many reasons this could be happening, including but not limited to:
  • Continued onslaught from insectoids from West Taiwan
  • hololive corporate renewed interest in taking hold of Chinese market
  • Inability to branch out and collaborate as much as she would like
  • The success and general freedom afforded by streaming on the KSON channel instead
Aside from the last part, all options indicate some form of Chinese fuckery here. Coco has been assaulted by these soulless drones for months now, and I'm not surprised if it's just worn her down.

At the very least, this time we have ample warning to download and preserve everything possible. I have no idea if anything went private or deleted shortly before this was posted, so it's best not to waste any time. @DarkMahesvara, I genuinely hope you are up-to-date or can manage to be before July 1.

While I can't say I watched Coco nearly as frequently as my current favorites, she is largely responsible for having got me interested in hololive and v-tubers in general. She also arguably has one of the best designs of any of the hololivers and has generated hundreds if not thousands of god-tier fanart.

I fucking loved this bitch. I'm going to miss this goofy dragon and her Mickey Mouse voice. :mokou-lying:

As I come to learn more information, I'll try and update this thread however I can. Please be sure, if you have the time, to give her whatever love and support you can until she finally leaves us in this form.

Fuck insects. Now and forever. Fifty-five days were not enough.

Edit: Updated the link to the Cover Corp. graduation announcement (reversed URL and text), mentioned that Coco's video has English subtitles and removed extraneous musings, added meme thread image, added links to pastebins from Coco's mengen, added further bug repellent, added further stream-based information, added hololive anime episode about Coco leaving, added Coco's graduation stream, added Coco's roommate account, updated title and description to better match Coco's current status of graduation and provide a more reflective tone

Coco was the first vtuber I actually watched and had interest in, feels like forever ago too.

I'm not sure how much it was the bugmen and how much she's just ready to move on. The way this reads, not even Cover saw this coming.

Also, don't forget the CCP more or less banned vtubers from streaming in China (don't know if that's being enforced or not), so I kind of doubt Cover is attempting to set up the China branch again. The CCP isn't one to reopen avenues once they've been burned too.

Only other thing I can say is that it'll happen sooner or later to every vtuber, so I'm not that shocked. And who knows, maybe she's just switching gears and is going to keep streaming independently.

I have absolutely no idea what the video says, so if anyone more learned in moonspeak wants to drop some pertinent translations in this thread, that would be greatly appreciated. I am almost certain however that nothing revealing is said in the video, as Coco is likely just offering the announcement and speaking fondly of her experiences. The official announcement implies that this was Coco's choice.
but the video has subs in English
or were the subs added later? :zt-think:

although she doesn't say anything special anyway

Uh, considering this was streamed, I don't think it released with subtitles, but honestly I didn't check. I updated the post with the information that subtitles are now available.

Eh, there's a lot to explain here. I'll try to go through in short, but understand I am leaving out a lot of detail and nuance.

Sometime last year, I don't remember exactly when, Coco got involved in some drama where she read on stream bits from her Google Analytics. These stats revealed that one of her top countries was Taiwan, which if you know anything about CCP propaganda, is something you do not even pretend exists. Shills and drones from the mainland flocked to attack her, and she's been facing their onslaught to varying degrees ever since.

I should also mention that Coco and the another v-tuber who did the same thing, Akai Haato, were suspended for three weeks because of this. The official reason was that they were reading analytics, which was apparently a no-no but so many others had done it at the point, but we all knew it was to ease Chinese anger over this mess. hololive at the time had a branch in China called hololive CN, but it was actually dissolved later on because of this whole ordeal, which was good on one hand since it ensured Cover no longer was beholden to Chinese idiocy, but it did further inflame the insectoids.

To answer your last question, Cover Corp. is indeed Japanese owned and operated, but it is filled with spineless fucktards that did jack shit to help Coco deal with all the flaming. At best, they were apathetic, but at worst they were complicit in the harrassment. There was a time where legitimately a Chinese anti was modded in her chat, and that anti went on to ban a lot of Coco's beloved supporters. This mess too way too long to clean up. It's really hard to say if that was an act of extreme negligence or malicious intentions.

It is very likely, in my eyes, that Coco is graduating because she is finished dealing with all this mess and being a part of a corporation that struggles, either intentionally or not, to give her the support she needs.

what the fuck :gura-pain: i can't really see why cover would choose to kick her because of china after more than half a year of cutting all ties with them and even terminating there CN branch but i guess we will see in the future. My guess is that is probably just stress.

Yes I'm already up-to-date. She did say that all her public VODs will stay and only member content will be deleted.

The worst thing are the insects thinking they won.

I think you're right that Cover probably didn't kick her, but I am starting to feel that they intentionally mistreated and abandoned her in terms of duress for the purpose of trying to edge her out. This sort of indirect bullying is not at all uncommon in Japanese workplace environments, and they can retain any plausible deniability on their end by stating it was her choice, not theirs. Absolute fucking scumbag degenerates.

That is fantastic to see, and I'm pretty sure this is novel behavior as far as graduations go, no? I guess since this is hololive's first graduation, they can set the expectations on what will happen when we inevitably see our cherished holos leave.

You know, I'm inclined to agree with you in the sense that I don't think they've won. For @Czaph and any others currently in despair, hear me out on this.

Coco is leaving, and that's a wound that will not heal in the industry for sure, but that's not going to change the impact that she's left and the consequences of it. For one, as mentioned before, we are not losing any of her public content. We're not losing her songs, fanart, and collabs. Coco is not going anywhere. This is a big victory, especially considering how most graduations tend to go.

Coco also has a strong fanbase, one that really isn't going anywhere and will almost certainly in high capacity follow her to whatever she chooses to do next. There's a chance she decides not to launch another v-tuber persona, sure, but there is her roommate account that she still spends time on that she might choose to run full-time instead. There's so many things she is capable of doing, both mentally and financially, that this is not at all the end of her story.

They've far from won. We might have to deal with the fact there's not going to be any new content from Coco in her current form, but she's certainly going to live beyond July 1. What the fuck do the insects have?

Just some food for thought. Hopefully this can inspire some optimism in light of a very grave and disheartening situation. This end is quite literally just a new beginning. :flan-yea:

Its not the first but the third graduation actually (even 6 if you count the china branch). Hitomi Chris and Aloe have deleted there content tho.

yes problem is they are absolutely delusional.

most of the time bullies always won ... this is a sad world

i don't think "hololive trying to renew their interest in china/collab etc" will work, all bullies (sjw, anti-taiwan groups, etc) often have difficulties to move on even after their victim was defeated. They'll act like their target is still exist and complaint etc. They'll target hololive again if they dare to set foot in bili2.

What i just realized. If Coco was in Hololive Alternative does that mean this has not been planned and was spontaneous? This would also pretty much destroy the rrats about Chinese investors.
I'm inclined to believe it was not planned, but only in so much as Cover not knowing when their constant quarantining of her would finally choke her out (rrat). Her independent presence is also growing, and there are definitely blurred lines between these businesses that both parties may enjoy keeping separated better.

Ultimately, it appears an agreeable mutual dissolution of their relationship was achieved. At the very least, they are doing well to make it respectful. I think there was finally a meeting where they looked at each other and asked, "how long can we keep doing this," with regard to her personal business, constant bugmen attacks, and not lining up well with the idol gimmick.

As fans, we are mostly distraught over being reminded we are Goslings. I don't honestly want to believe this is some grand China motive within Cover. It would be heinous if that were the case, but I've been surprised before.

Been lurking the Kiwi Farms Virtual YouTubers thread a bit, and today I found something new worth sharing. I've updated the original post with some pastebin links involved a conversation with Coco remarking on her departure.

Personally, I can see the "creative difference" angle as being the reason. Anyone who has been paying slight attention to hololive over the last few months knows that the higher-ups have found a lot of the edgy or controversial content very distasteful. They had instituted rules out of nowhere back when Haachama was going through her narrative arc which had, at the last minute, caused her to cancel her finale. Coco was also affected as far as things such as asacoco went and whatnot. Of course, they ultimately pulled back on this (likely with key figures in the group requesting more control), but it's very possible they want to revisit that sort of style.

I fully expect hololive content to get more boring and less exciting over the next few months if this is the case. If you can stomach the "seiso only" content, good for you. I guess Yagoo's dream really isn't dead then, so you can celebrate with your fellow big chungus Redditards. I for one personally prefer the girls have more creative control over their content, but oh well.

We are never going to get the full answer, but perhaps this helps clear things up a bit more. I do think it's important to also take what she says with a grain of salt, because her captors' eyes are still upon her and of course she can't (and probably wouldn't anyway) be entirely open about her decisions. I still have some strong suspicious that either the insectoids have a hand in this and/or Cover's negligence in handling them.

At the very least, she is not going out quietly, and for that we can be appreciative. I'm really impressed with how she's already done streams since her announcement and is likely not slowly down either. Let's make this last month with her a good one.

She's barely any different on there, just no avatar.
I wish more people thought this way. So many just pass off roommatte accounts as "no different than Twitch thots", when, at least in the case of Coco, that is far from the truth. People have loyally followed, supported, and promoters these v-tubers because there is a real personality behind the anime avatar.

I really hope she starts posting there a lot more after her graduation as Coco. She should, at the very least, get a respectable boost in subscribers, especially from those who either do not know of the account or feel comfortable watching it while she's active on hololive.
