Shameless shilling i know but, Xenogears,Trace Memory and TWEWY are the best anime games at least to me. I love everything about it and i honestly see them as my all time favorite games.

Earlier this year I tried out this literal anime kusoge for the Super Famicom
Appleseed - Prometheus no Shintaku
> Bonkers but good OST
> Jank sprite animation that freezes you in place mid step if you stop moving, no idle sprite basically
> Obtuse as hell, very easy to miss the keycard sprite in the first level (it floating in a way that makes it look like a background sprite doesn't help)
> You know how some bosses grow redder as their health depletes? That's your health indicator
> Second or third level is a maze, thankfully not as contrived as the switches could've made it
> After the maze(s) you get a boss that wages a battle of attrition against you while your only recourse is a very tight choreography of 'simon says' dodging
> All of this has as much presence in my memory as the output modes and shaders I was testing while playing it

First one is nice since I have been looking into jp devs that dabbled in MSX while putting out arcade games, second is particularly relevant to the thread and pretty nice contrast to the algorithm baiting that prevails on youtube -a casual impressions and review channel of relatively obscure content.

Xenoblade 2 is the greatest rpg ever made and you cant convince me otherwise. Shame the devs caved hard and instead of growing the franchise they opted to go for irrelevance.
What? Xenoblade is a really popular topic of discussion among jrpg fans, i see it talked about alot as much as ff or dq is really and its not because i hang around on xeno related places.
The developers have been growing the franchise since like the 90s when it all started off as what was supposed to be ff7 along with parasite eve as well too and now xeno pretty much can stand on its own feet and so can anything else from monolith soft.
What I mean is that Xenoblade 3 killed the hope I had for monolithsoft and franchise. Idk much about what people talk about but the sales numbers/trajectory of 2 vs 3 tells me that they failed to capitalise on the growth they had with Xenoblade 2. For example, compare the popularity of Homhika or the story against any of 3's characters, the difference is huge, nobody really cares that much about any of 3's characters or its story. For me 3 is the most boring and worst xenogame in the whole series/franchise by a lot and I feel like monolithsoft/takahashi had the chance to surpass 2 but fumbled really hard.
This has to be the most doomerish post i've read in my few years being here.
I can tell you, pretty much everyone and their mother from what i've seen was pretty much in shock to the point of avoiding the game for a few days, when chapter 5 i think came around.
And also, reality is nobody is going to give a fuck about popularity its just if they like the character or not.
So overall, this entire post just reeks of doomerism so i can't really agree with anything this post said honestly sorry.
This sounds like a contradiction really. Popularity is people liking the characters is it not? Anyway since its going into subjective territory I wont argue anymore but if you have any proof of 3's characters being more popular than 2's feel free to provide examples.
Yeah call me doomer idk, but I dont have any respect for people who censor and tone down shit especially after the godgame that is Xenoblade 2.
