gonna try to keep it short so here goes
Japanese virtual entertainment industry (JVEI) = anime, manga, games, LNs, VNs, etc
their main demographic is young men
THEREFORE, to appeal to young men, the JVEI has created a whole bunch of different female characters, of all shapes and sizes, ages, personalities, etc, to appeal to young men, thus having a lot more "female representation" than maybe western media; just look at all the shitton of CGDGT shows/manga/etc, and thats just one genre
also important: bechdel test
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bechdel_test
basically: looking for media where female characters have their own plots that dont revolve around men, arent about men, etc
the dyke's assertion was that hollywood basically has none of that; look at JVEI, and its FULL of female characters with their own plots that dont include men AT ALL
yeah i got these images from google, these are a couple that i would consider to be "feminist," as in, they portray female characters in a positive light (for the most part), theyre all independent, pursuing their own goals and ambitions, have different LIKEABLE personalities (even the bitchier ones like Reina from Hibike), but they are NOT western-feminist propaganda
One of the best characters that destroys feminist propaganda is Major General Olivier Armstrong from Fullmetal Alchemist; think about it, shes a feminist's wet dream:
in a position of high authority and power (general of a whole army, in charge of an important fort)
strong (physically and mentally) fiercely independent woman who dont need no man
has her own ambitions and goals, takes no shit from no one
commands respect from men, they all follow her loyally
AND YET, shes not feminist propaganda; Arakawa never included her in the story just to dunk on toxic male patriarchy or whatever shit; Olivier is there to be a cool badass female character, not to score woke points (not that social media was big when Arakawa was writing FMA)
compare her to purple hair admiral bitch from star wars
this guy explains it pretty well
this is about TRUE authority, leadership, responsibility
purple hair admiral is a terrible character not because shes a "strong woman in charge and that scares men" ; its because shes a fucking shit leader; theres plenty of terrible male leaders, but feminists cant see past that and resort to the vagina defense to protect shitty hollywood female characters; and hell, LEIA HERSELF is an example of a better leader
in epV, when theyre discovered by the empire, she and the higher command decides to evacuate; we then get a scene where shes in the hanger, talking directly to the pilots, explaining exactly what the plan is, what the objectives are; in a time-ticking crisis of impending disaster, shes able to be a leader and LEAD (
) its a short scene, but still shes so much more better here than purple hair admiral bitch in that entire movie
also compare that armorer lady from the Mandalorian; remember when anita sarkisian (whatever the fuck her lastname is) complained about no female chars in the first episode? to be fair, she had a point, there was only one major female character, in one scene, and just with that she was a far better leader than purple hair; from the way the armorer-chief-boss lady talks, and moves, even in her small forge, she has an aura of TRUE authority, she old and wise, experienced, she knows what shes doing and its clear that Mando respects her; unlike purple hair who just got put in charge and automatically demands that everyone blindly follow her, the armorer lady has earned her position (somehow, we get no backstory, still havent gotten around to watching season2) and all the other mandalorians in that clan recognize and respect her
lets use one of milliennials' favorite series: Harry Potter (my memories are foggy since i read these when i was a kid but heres the general details)
in book 5 you get Dolores Umbridge, who is specifically written to be an absolute authoritarian bitch karen that everyone except bootlicking sycophants hates; shes hired as a new teacher and just like purple hair admiral, her "authority" style is basically "fuck you im in charge do what i tell you or else"
(
)
props to the actress for being able to play such a detestable bitch
compare her with professor McGonagall; shes older, and from the way shes written, certainly commands TRUE authority and respect; shes a "tough love" kind of teacher, but not a senseless authoritarian; she cares about her students, their wellbeing and success; of course as a responsible adult she has to place boundaries and limits on the teenage punks, discipline them and whatnot, but she never goes out of her way to fuck over a student just because
normally i hate these kinds of videos but im not gonna through the whole books just to look for examples
