What you do with your money is up to you, but if you're pre-ordering a video game out of spite, then you're likely being manipulated via viral marketing. Ryan Holiday did this when he was advertising for Tucker Max's movie 'I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell'. What Ryan did was pull a publicity stunt where he posed as a fake feminist organisation, tearing down posters for Tucker's movie and posting the photographs of his self-vandalism online to trick real feminists to also complain about the movie, acting as free advertisement to seduce young, easily-duped men to park their butts in a theatre to see a mediocre-to-poor film.
I would honestly recommend waiting until after the game's release so you can play a demo, or watch whoever is the modern equivalent of John Peter Bain do a short review of the game's options and decide whether the game looks like it would be an enjoyable experience worth your money.
