You can say against Battlefield whatever you want but the Trailers where always a highlight because cinematic stuff shown could always happen for real in the game. I'm glad we get another modern BF since imo the last decent one was BF3 and BF4.

I'm going to keep my expectations low until I see the gameplay trailer, and even if that's promising, I need to ensure they're not going to pull and bullshit as far as thematic presentation or post-sale monetization goes. The points you mentioned regarding what to expect do look great though.

I also have to admit that trailer is pretty badass. But these days, I'm so disillusioned with cinematic trailers that they hardly excite me much beyond the spectacle. Based from what we can see in the trailer, though, I like the way they're going as far as somewhat "futuristic" warfare goes, much more so than what Call of Duty managed. Hopefully there's no cringe, twitchy movement in this title.

Doesn't really matter for me either way. No fucking parts are available for building a new PC so I'd still be stuck lagging on Battlefield 3 if I wanted to play. Shotgunning on Noshahr Canals, anyone?

I find it surprising they went this direction, when Activision did this whole formula change with Black ops 4 it got mixed reception and I'm expecting something similar to happen with this game. I found the trailer very cool and i love the little winks to the BF3 and 4 community with the ATV ramming the heli and the pilot jumping out of his plane and shooting the other plane with a missile launcher.

That being said I'm seeing EA following in Sony's and 2K's footsteps and charging 70 big ones for the game on current gen consoles on top of also having a year 1 pass, so I'm thinking this is going to be a games as a service and be monetized to hell.

I'll probably keep an eye on the game but I'm skeptical at some of the changes and how EA will handle post launch support.

You mean the part where none of the original devs even work there anymore so any of intelligence and competency that was involved with 1942 and the rest of the actual good battlefields will never happen again.
>The name will definitely cause people to associate 2142 with it
the vast majority of people don't remember or have even heard of it. I much rather take a simple name that makes sense (you know the year its playing in) than just Battlefield. They probably not call it BF6 because of the missive failure 5 was.

The vast majority of people shouldn't be considered people, especially if they've never heard of 2142, an objectively perfect game. :kuroko-sip:

based on what I'm seeing its clear they are trying to advertise this as a "return to tradition", having things like a RendeZook and the quadbike slamming the helicopter says to me that after the flop that was BFV they want to try and catch the eye of the people that dropped it or never brought it in the first place.

only time will tell if they are legit trying to go back to the shit that worked in BF3/4 or if this is all just marketing bullshit to try and sucker everyone in for another sinker

I'm gonna take a "wait and see" stance on this and see how it plays out. me and the mates have been playing a shit load of enlisted as of late and that's been scratching that same BF style game itch. but if 2042 comes out or if the OBT is fun and good id be interested.
