Played almost a month and do like it. However i hope they will have fix some issues when global launches. Definitely some of the best 3D animation ive seen for a mobile title and music slaps absolutely.

Well the Pleroma is down, and I saw this game being discussed quite a bit on it.

What do you guys think of it? Which girls are cute and funny? Advice on being less retarded in game?

If there's anything you guys want in the op let me know.

Nice to see a thread for this game posted here, though given you are one of our resident gun-girl experts, I'm not surprised you are the one to bring it up. :nep:

A friend had been very much interested in this game for the longest after having quit both F/GO and Arknights, so I followed after his interest and started looking forward to it myself. Was pretty hyped when the game finally dropped, and I found myself so dedicated to starting off well that I ended up re-rolling so many god damned times into the evening (average 10 minutes each attempt) to try and get a fairly respectable start.

What do you guys think of it?
I must say that I am extremely impressed with both the visuals and the soundtrack, like more so than usual. Gacha tends to do very well in this respect to draw people in but Blue Archive specifically goes above and beyond here. It's also nice to see Live2D used more frequently rather than saved as an exception for ultra rare or limited units or instances. I'm also very pleased with the sheer variety of students as there is a respectable range, so for someone like me that loves and appreciates both pettan and muchimuchi, it's fantastic.

The cute chibi design of the characters while undergoing gameplay is endearing to me, and it all looks very nice in terms of effects. Honestly, visually, it's probably one of the best gacha games out there in that respect.

Gameplay itself is not bad so far. It's certainly a bit annoying

The only negatives I can really think of are just problems specific to the genre of gacha as a whole: there exists an overwhelming amount of systems both in terms of gameplay and management to consider, the gacha rates don't seem to hot, having to either choose or a find a balance (which may not existence) between PvE and PvP, certain units both present and future are seemingly must-haves, and a surplus of limited units with seemingly little prospect for reruns plaguing banners. Time will tell how annoying these get, but so far at least right now, it's all not hampering my enjoyment of the game too much.

Should also be brought up that the game is being published by Nexon, and anyone who has any experience with Nexon games knows how much they like to fuck things up, especially financially, so that's something to consider. I am hoping this is ultimately a title that can be played F2P, because I don't plan on giving them a cent. (Keyword: plan... *sigh*)

Which girls are cute and funny?
You already posted an excellent example of one in Sora, but there are a few others that stand out to me, the most notable of which being Hina, who also receives a swimsuit variant. There's something about these dominating, dark-aligned loli that really get me going (think fully Foreigner Abigail Williams as a good analog). I genuinely regret I had to forego her in my re-rolls (she was my first roll) for a more meta team.

For some others to check out, there's also Hoshino, Mutsuki, Neru, and Junko. Some others may apply, but different people's definition of cute and funny vary and these are at least the ones I'd consider safely in that category.

And of course, we can't forget Arona, who is such an absolute sweetheart. :nep-happy:

Advice on being less retarded in game?
Full disclosure, my knowledge of this game is very limited, so the following may not be the most reliable. I'm pretty much juggling four gacha now after having managed only two (F/GO, Arknights) for the longest, and I'm now also trying out Revived Witch (played in the CBT, but it released fully two days after Blue Archive).

In terms of advice, I would recommend looking into the upcoming raids as that's where the PvE gameplay seems to be focused. I can't speak too much for PvP as I detest it in gacha games, and I don't think I'll be exploring it much. On the topic of raids, they seem to abide by certain color types, so you'll have to make up your mind which raids you are prepared for and interested in completing.

My recommendation would be to review typical team compositions and try to build towards those, or at the very least build around whichever meta (or close to meta) students you have available. I'm not familiar with this type of game and, at least to me, it comes off more complex than most gacha I've tried given how there are several elements to a given student you need to balance for prime effectiveness, so just stay focused on that. I am not sure, though I could be wrong, this is really a game where you can just build whomever you want to excel.

If you want further, more informed tips, then I'd suggest checking out this thread. Found it as I was completing this post, so it may be more helpful than whatever I've written. I'm not a hardcore gacha player myself, and I honestly just want the cute girls while at least having the option to perform well in late-game, and I hope this game allows for that.

At the very least, whether the game turns out an enjoyable and strategic game or an annoying and restrictive timesink, the art, music, and characters will always be elements to appreciate and behold. Gacha always wins.

I'm saving my pyroxenes for the sukumizu version. Hopefully i have 24k by the time she's out here to spark it.

I got Hoshino on my starter roll, she's cute so i stopped there. I CBA to reroll forever anymore with gatcha's. I really wish every game would just follow SinoAlice example and let you repull the starter roll to your hearts content. One of the only things that game did right.

The chibi models remind me allot of Bombergirl and they look really good. Core gamplay is simplistic as expected. The rest of the systems are fine. Being able to skip missions after 3 starring them is a blessing and the keystone system is great (sort of similar to Honkai's fragment system) so no need to pull dupes to evolve characters.

Crafting is weird on the other hand, the shit you craft is sort of random and the cafe seems kinda pointless. Especially since the only way to get furniture is through said random crafting system.

Considering you have the foresight to save ahead, do you have any idea what the average anticipated paid currency is required to get a rate-up? The ability to save for and acquire students I would like is going to be critical in determining whether or not I'm going to bother playing into the future. Having heard what I have about limited units and banners, I'm not feeling too hopeful.

I just checked one of the re-roll tier lists I was using, and for what it's worth, she is reasonably ranked, so I don't think you've got to worry there. She's cute as heck, and honestly, that's all that really matters. I sympathize with your distate of rerolling completely, and I totally agree that if it's something they're even going to permit, they need to stop dicking around and let us get whichever units we want.

A bit ironic that you mention SINoALICE as an example of doing things right, as honestly I couldn't even get beyond the reroll screen on my end (honestly, I'm not a fan of rolling for weapons anyway). It was perhaps a bit premature to rage there, but given how things have turned up with that game, I saved myself the wasted effort.

Speaking of reroll systems, Revived Witch has a pretty interesting method where you are given one-hundred free rolls, but you only get to keep one and you can't revisit past rolls. I'd say out of all the systems I've done thus far, this is the best, though as a CBT participant I couldn't re-roll even if I wanted. For those who can, it'll take a lot less refreshes in total to actually get what you want. It's a lot better than the frustrating ten minute attempts required with Blue Archive where five whole minutes after the wasted roll you had to play with those units. Such a waste of time.

Excellent analogy! I have to wonder actually if they were inspired by it, especially in terms of their overall treatment of the ladies.

This is something to which I was alluding previously when it comes to having a bunch of systems as some (if not many) of them are either needlessly complicated or altogether not worth the time investment to understand them.

I'm certainly hoping crafting turns out better as the game progresses, otherwise it's going to be needless busywork that a gacha doesn't need. Dunno what's up with the café either.

From what i've heard the rates are pretty bad. I can't really tell personally since i only did 2 x10 pulls for the starter mission and haven't pulled since. Time will tell i guess.

Waifu > Meta for me. :cultured:
It does take a while before she's actually useful since you wont encounter heavy enemies and outdoor maps until mission 3 and 4

Sino completely went to shit. Absolutely the worst management of a gatcha i've seen in my life. How they haven't pulled the plug on the global version yet is beyond me, as the devs obviously don't give a shit about it.
Its a crying shame such an interesting setting and characters are stuck in such a garbage game.

Yeah, the shit needs to stop. Let us pick the damn unit we want and be done with it, but apparently there are gambling addicts who love rerolling so the 100 pull thing might be a decent middle ground.

Having played around with it. The cafe works very similar like the housing in Honkai Impact. You can get affection and it acts as a storage for energy and money.

Well the it was fun while it lasted guys :dead-inside:, looks like the censorship will continue.
Disgusting. Spineless. Embarrassing. A bit of a ranty post ahead, because holy fuck this is bad.

I would certainly like to know which "regions" have made these "external requests", because it's sure as fuck not Japan where you are likely to be getting the bulk of your profits outside of maybe Korea. It's possible it could be the west given how it seems to have a fetish for censorship in current year, but given there is precedence for this sort of content in other games, I am doubtful. I guess that leaves the usual suspect of China? I don't know how the regions are suited with the game, so I can't say for sure, but given that we've recently experienced censorship applied to Arknights, Azur Lane, and Fate/Grand Order just this year, I can't think of anyone else responsible. Once again, fuck the insects.

You can say "modification requests" are inevitable. Your feeling the need to acquiesce to them and censor your games is not. They frame this situation as if their hand was forced, as if this was the only way to ensure "stable service" of the game. What the actual fuck are these mental gymnastics? Nobody honestly believes this, right? You dumb faggots NEVER have to censor your games, ever. It is NEVER worth it to bend the knee to certain groups that want to kneel your creative vision.

Fuck you all. Hope it was worth it! Perhaps when the inevitable closure comes you'll finally come to the understanding that when making a game for waifu collectors, it's best not to do the absolute opposite of what you should and please the prudefaggots who don't play your game or contribute anything at all to its growth and development.

Then again, this is Nexon we're talking about. They like many other soulless South Korean game corpos are known for squeezing what they can out of games and leaving them to rot.
Goodbye Blue Archive, time to put her down
It's for the best, I believe. The game is no longer worth anyone's time, effort, or money. If they've done this, then they will surely do more in the future. They have lost and goodwill generated thus far, and they have proven there is no merit to their word. Imagine actually proclaiming yourselves to have artistic integrity and then doing literally the exact opposite of that not long after the game is released and your claws have dug in to players. Many such cases, yet all of them still sad!

I had already stopped playing the game beforehand because I was not a fan of some of the game systems, impending grind, and limited banner cringe. Blue Archive will join all the other gacha where I just enjoy it solely through the artwork and music, both of which are sadly of tremendous quality and wasted on such scummy developers. The game truly had atypically high production value for its genre.

Just really fucking sucks still because the long-term consequences of bleeding players because of this (and likely future instances of censorship) will result in the game being less relevant, which itself translates into less fan content and official content of quality. It's a genuine, hard loss for all parties except these "regions" with interests contrary to literally everyone else and the game itself.

What a shame. :gura-pain:
The current score on the playstor. Well deserved.
Let's hope it sticks. Feels like at some point, either the developers use their pull or Google does their own thing and justified review bombs are disappeared or countered by "definitely legitimate" positive reviews that come out of fucking nowhere. I can easily see it being bolstered up to the high-three if not the low-four range after the damage control proceeds to full effect.

Looks like their going to make 2 versions of the game after getting poked by the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee to either adjust the content or raise the age rating, so their going to make a version that's uncensored, looks like all the shit thrown at them did something I guess.
Fuck why couldn't they have done this already :senko_sigh:

Greetings, Sensei!

Did you enjoy the Valentine's Day Event with Wakamo?

Looking at the community today, many Senseis have recently joined us here at Blue Archive.
This recent growth has been a great opportunity to reaffirm our development, business, and operation teams' desires to not lose the game's guiding vision.
Also, I hope you'll enjoy the new event story, "The Clumsy Sister and the Magician of the Old Library." You'll get to meet the new students, Ui and Hinata.
And you'll have a chance to earn Trinity Academy materials by completing the Event Tasks!

Today I would like to address something outside of our game updates.

This September, we received a guideline from the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee to either adjust the game's art and resources or raise the game's age rating.
The quickest and easiest response would have been to make those adjustments.
However, thinking of the Aris scene's adjustment last time and as a PD, I was worried about negatively affecting our Senseis' game experience with repeated changes if and when similar issues happen to arise in the future.
And so, we on the development team have decided to raise the game's age rating so that Senseis can enjoy our original content, and then we'll create another app version of the game containing the adjusted resources.

The version with the adjusted resources will undergo a thorough review so we don't damage the characters’ visual personalities. We will always notify you of any changes made in the adjusted version.

To note, these separate game versions will not affect your accounts in any way.
Please feel free to select the version appropriate for your age and enjoy the game without concern.

When a game is in live operations, conditions outside of the actual game can sometimes cause unexpected issues and changes, but we will respond thoroughly to any such issues so that you may continue enjoying Blue Archive with as little disturbance to your gameplay experience as possible.

There are many other events we have been preparing outside of the game itself that I will announce the next time we speak.
I hope we meet again soon, Sensei!

Not sure about other platforms, but the people on the Fediverse were pretty pissed about this statement, and how they should have done this earlier. They might give it another chance though, hard to beat the cute and funny designs

IMO understandable, they did this because it was gonna affect KR which always had the censorship taken out of it. EN got included just because it's global by association, they never cared enough about EN people.
