Uncensored Patch: https://varishangout.com/index.php?threads/fire-emblem-engage-uncensored-patch.1730/

The game's writing is bad in Japanese, and it's even worse in english with all the censorship and fanfiction.
Not all lines about outer-beauty/affection/gender were removed, just the (slightly) problematic ones and the ones that the localizers did not like for their fanfiction version.
By throwing pedo accusations, the western localization branch and their goons successfully convinced the FE Fandom into accepting the Anna censorship, they're pretending that loli is where they draw the line despite the fact that they censored every support with an underage character.

If the support was left as is, only a minority of pronouns in bios would complain about it, but mostly no one would care since it's just an optional support, and loli content has always been a thing.
But now all of a sudden something this tame gets treated almost like it's loli hentai.

I assume Gamebanana and Loverslab censored the uncensored patch at the behest of the localizers, they probably wanted to trick JP-Nintendo into thinking that even the fandom does not think that this type of content is okay, so that next time they can remove it from the Japanese version too.

After the Bridget situation, I'm sure that western branches have infiltrated wikis/subreddits/discords and various communities in order to influence the fandom. They want to control the content and how the fans react to their decisions.

Even after ruining this game at the source, they still felt the need to censor any and every line that could offend anyone from the english version.
It's obvious, but this stuff will never stop at just "Loli/Shota"

And hers, of course
FEGloc (1).jpg

Localization added Celine asking for Celica's consent, like some kind of passive aggressive jab on the jp script.
They also changed her calling Celica beautiful.

Warm Hands
FEGloc (4).jpg

In JP she's remembering the sensation

Thanks, Oniichan, I love you so much!
FEGloc (7).jpg

Note: Mar-Mar is an old localization

Added "Barefoot"
FEGloc (3).jpg

Maybe the localization wanted to comment on her design?

Yuriman Louis
FEGloc (5).jpg

In JP he does not finish saying what the thought makes him feel, but En specifies that it's "captivating"
Note: Louis likes to watch woman getting along with each other

I'm a guy

Rosado from the village of faeries (not in sequence)
FEG (2).png
(1) JP: People where I'm from are born androgynous - EN: We view beauty beyond your silly gender expectation
(2) JP: There are cute boys and handsome girls - EN: You're beautiful no matter how you identify
(3) JP: Being cute in the village is normal, but not here - EN: We're all special snowflakes

The male gaze
FEGloc (9).jpg

Sorry for being too beautiful

What Gentlemen prefer
Fire Emblem Engage Support.jpg

The localization removed them talking about attracting men with them talking about being fit for war

Thank you very much
FEG (2).jpg

Etie talks like an Ojousama in japanese, In english she's the opposite

I'm inferior to you -> I'm tough, but I can still do more
FEG (4).jpg

Official Lucina Flat shaming removed (Goldmary x Lucian)
Fire Emblem Localization.jpg

Fashion talk
feg1.jpg

"Mature and cute" changed to "Elegant and eye-catching" and "short in length" was removed

More fashion talk
feg.jpg

Fran wanting to seem mature and Mistira talking about how short she can have her skirt be were removed.

"Outer beauty" lines are untranslated
FEGloc (8).jpg

Outer beauty lines aren't removed completely, just from romantic ones I assume.

I love you
FEGloc (6).jpg

I'm still a child
FEGloc (2).jpg

Note: These three images are not in sequence.
Note2: Anna is the one that confesses to the MC by giving him/her an accessory on lovers day

I ve heard that this game has a lot more interactions than the other games before it.
It makes me wonder if that is why even the jp versions feel a little meh :anime-think:

Of course it will most likely still sell a lot of copies cause the public will eat any garbage that companies put on their troughs

Idk if this counts as a localization thing, but its something I noticed while playing.

In JP Rosdao Clearly has a fake cute voice and drops it throughout at times.

While in English he's flat they just went with a generic voice for the whole thing.

Oh but an actual localizing decision. For whatever reason they made anna more arrogant in the English script sorry for shitty image quality.

English: Anna is so formal call me lady anna.
20230123_030736.jpg

IIRC
The JP is roughly translated to: IT'S not Anna it's Anna-san
20230123_031302.jpg

Pretty sure the whole point is she wants to be treated with respect and like she was older.

And yes the English version isn't a script error the voiced line is exactly how it's written.

A majority of the supports from what I can tell are botched to fit the English script.

One thing I find interesting is just how much staff this game has. Fire Emblem Engage is by no means text heavy, but they still have 10 people managing and 40 people doing actual localisation work? So, in total... 50 people working on the English version of the game?
Compare that to the credits for other language versions of the same game and apparently Germany, France etc. don't need 50 people to translate a game.
There's definitely something wrong with how NoA specifically is handling their translation/localisation work. Needing 50 (in words: fifty) people is not normal.

It could be that the bulk of the localization work is done by NoA and the rest just translate from english to their respective language. Still as you said 50 is a lot of people.

That said Im pretty ignorant of the whole process behind games development so I cant really say for sure if that is abnormal or not

I looked up the NoA Localisation credits online, and googled the first five names. One of them translates from English to Spanish, and another is a bilingual EN/ES localisation editor. So that long laundry list of 50 names isn't to get the game localised into English, but at least Spanish as well. You can look it up and research the names to see how many other languages are stuffed under the NoA Localisation banner, or the individual's professed job description.

That said, a recent trend in Japan (by recent, I mean in the grand scheme of things; at least a decade ago) is just to hire multiple scenario writers to do individual characters or routes. Either to save time or to give each character their own distinct vocabulary. I personally don't like it cause this trend of hiring multiple writers has led to text bloat. Games back in the 1990s and early 2000s, I feel, had more condensed and well-written dialogue, but games nowadays just go on and on to the point if someone isn't saying anything interesting, I just skip it.

They "updated" their commemt

>[...] where I believe the developers did not want this to occur.
the fuck kind of dumbass logic is this lmao. all the other game developers didn't explicitly approve all the other mods to be hosted there either, since most of them are also NOT what the developers originally envisioned either. why singling this one specific mod out? (<- rhetorical question)
obviously it's not like the devs (read: localizers) actually contacted them and demand them to remove the mod anyway, it's just a convenient excuse for them. how ridiculous :kekw:

There was no developer of the US release only localizers and localizers aren't developers.
They are fucking parasites and vandals and clearly this cunt agrees with them.
Engage was already toned down heavily compared to older entries and it's still not fucking enough.

This fucker is too much of a coward to say bluntly that Japanese should conform to the "values" of american wokeness, that's what he wants to say but is too scared to because it makes his intentions clear just like everyone that defends the censorship.

Parasites can't help themselves.
No, I don't want to read an "article" about the day to day of the life of a living parasite, like all forms of cancer, localizers should be surgically remove and killed.

So conclusion all mods for games where you can kill someone should be removed then. Because morals. Or maybe murder is morally right in there eyes? :zt-think:
