You can always pirate a game to review without saying you bought it.
Because despite what Chris Avellone's suggested, even if you could win the discrimination lawsuit it's almost guarantee you will get into the industry's blacklist and the gate will be closed to you everywhere you try to find the next job. This is especially if you're just a small fry trying to make a living day to day.
I think the whole entire issue could easily be solved if in the West they could create a Parallel Industry. This is also the main problem I keep noticing with Western Industries as a whole that they have not adapted to yet. Expecting to wait for the collapse while a good idea, may not be for awhile. They need to ask themselves
1. Where is our IGN Equivalent of Reviewers and even Influencers on Social Media?
2. Where is our Indie Industries that prioritize Gameplay, good storytelling and innovation?
3. Where is our own AAA and AA industries that can exist?
4. Is there any contingencies to prevent subversion of the industries we are creating? Maybe Decentralization in the sense not everything is located in Coastal Areas of California but instead in areas that are more neutral in America and have a tougher time of entryism from Politically Correct types.
5. Any Government funding? Any VC Funding? Any Crowdfunding sources? Any Banking industries as well?
The reason why I ask this is, because without creating a Parallel Industry, they are at the mercy of the reviewers. We all know there is fake Indies that push a political message, we all know that the industry is in bed with each other, we all know that they have problems hiring. We even know they will all die and it will self correct. But why do we not hasten that and make it difficult for it to happen again. This should be their own mindset. It's obvious Doug Houser and some of the Rockstar team left, and even Avellone and others get it. But they need help. I do think Trump will be getting rid of things at the top but it is time for everyone else who has political, banking, corporate connections to begin to do something as a whole about this to prevent this from happening in the future.
That sounds a lot like ceding territory and ceding territory is never the answer. Just look at Bluesky, they can keep coping about it being as big as X all they want, it won't ever change the fact that to most people X still is the biggest platform.
