Journalists don't deserve human rights edition.


The fediverse is a decentralized federated twitter like social media, basically a bunch of websites that can sort of interact with each other. We have a pleroma instance that is part of it varishangout.net
Just like twitter, a lot of interesting people inhabit it, feds, nazis, feminists, maps/pedos, etc.
This megathread is to post fediverse related stuff from any site that belongs to it, such as varis, poast, pawoo, etc.

Let's begin the thread with something that happened recently on poa.st
A journalist from HuffPost was stalking some guy name SpookyNationalist because he was a fascit and he was a school teacher or something.
He decided to make a poast account to threaten him into revealing more information

Poast admins noticed this and banned the account and revealed his Email address

This journalist doesn't have any especial doxing powers where he can track people because of their IP, the dox only happened because this guy was careless and left too many clues around, a bit of social engineering and a few google searches is all it's needed to dox someone. I will eventually make an anti doxing guide.

Graf and null's relationship worked out exactly as I expected it too. Not necessarily that they're incompatible, but definately more that they're too much alike in a lot of ways. The main site seems stable now and Elon's purchase of twitter might result in a laxer moderation policy so I'd imagine that, outside of a few schizos from the Ralph subforum, there's going to be a lot less friction moving forward.

Anyways, doxing is a lot like "hacking" in that most of it is a lot less cool in practice and more involves the victims not taking steps to obfuscate themselves.

good thing i don't use fediverse at all and honestly online forums or places like discord specially if its a close friends server is my thing.
