Figures

Aglezabad

varishangout.com
Hello everyone:

I'm opening this thread to show and share our figure collections. Maybe somebody else here have some figures which are proud of.
I will show them in the next few days, because I need to dust off then (I'm not using any enclosure and that generates accumulation of dust).

This is the last figure I've received. A Nendroid of Kaguya from Kaguya-sama Love is war.

Edit: I've resized the image so it does not eat half of your screen.

Quick question:

Do you think its not worth it replacing a figure you have parts broken off it? My dad keeps insisting its better if he ruins it by putting the pieces back together with fucking Gorilla Glue.

Mind you I have the kind of dad who likes to guilt trip you into thinking what you buy is a waste of money or a rip off, only if it's something he personally doesn't like.

The fig in question btw is a Llenn fig. Both her ammo packs came off, and one of the pegs at her feet broke too so she wobbles a lot if i move her.

I will try to respond all the questions because I didn't had this situation:

Well, ask yourself these questions:
- Is it replaceable? Is it a figure which you can buy again or is it a special edition with limited quantities?
- Can I pay for a replacement if available? If it's a 50$/€ figure is easier to buy it again. If it's a 300$/€, maybe not.
- It's a original figure or a bootleg? If it's a bootleg I think it's not worth for repair. Bootleg figures are evil :hibiki-pain: (I 've had one bootleg and the face of that figure it was like dead inside).

In my opinion, I think that you can try to repair it anyway. You don't have nothing to lose at this moment even if it's a bootleg, because you can make some practice for future situations.
For repair, never use gorilla glue for that. Maybe your father show that option because it's the way to repair ceramic figures, but your case needs very precise repair. I think that the ammo packs are joined with pegs and those pegs are broken.

I've watched a way to reconstruct those pegs using baking soda and superglue. Maybe it's a option. I don't know the amount of force can stand the compound but that way allows doing it with precision. The video it's about retro computers but can apply for figures because they are made with plastic (ABS and PVC). Just be careful applying cianocrilate (superglue) on the area of reconstruction because it can make a mess. If the peg you reconstruct became bigger than the original, you can file the excess.

Thanks for this. Yeah I just got another one. Its only a 60 dollar fig, not 100%. Apparently its a SEGA product, and I find it funny how there is another one of the same pose but with a different face and with messierish hair.

I always felt like a failure of a weeb because I don't actually have any anime figures. I did recently get my Satan from Kingdom Death though. Pictures from Google since mine isn't assembled yet. I'm currently waiting for my friend to have a spot in his commission queue so I can get him to paint them.

I come to threads like these to look at other people's figurines.
I barely have any space to throw my shit around, why would I buy figurines?

All I've got right now is this Chinese knockoff Summer March Atago fig. Came out surprisingly fine looking, at the price I paid I was almost expecting her to be missing an arm or something.

Only problem is the holes in her shoes have started warping mighty fierce. I set her up good in the picture above, but normally she's leaning way to one side if able to stand up at all. You guys know of any good way to better secure down a fig to their base?

Here's the three figures that I own. From left to right: Nero, Narmaya, and Hanamaru. I'm not super big into collecting figures myself, but I thought I'd get one of some characters I like. I'd kill to get one of Vajra though but, as far as I know, they don't exist :konata_cry:

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask this but.
Is jlist a good site to buy this stuff from. I only know them for their sometimes funny sometimes cringy tweets but really have no idea about their products

From my experience, I haven't any issue with them. They gave me a good service, also in the middle of the "2020 bug" when Japan Post couldn't send anything to my country.
Maybe the only issue is they are a little expensive compared with other stores.

Ordered some Shirts from them back then. They're also pretty reliable. The Prices for figures and other official merch is often way more expensive than other direct-from-japan sellers like HLJ or Amiami.

Back in 2007 they even "helped" with the customs declaration a little so save some money but I doubt they can do that anymore. Japan became very strict about this.

I've preordered Vanilla and Chocola chinese dress edition some time ago, but the store where I've requested went fully negligent with a previous preorder (they didn't sent anything and didn't respond to emails). So I've requested the return of the money of this preorder to PayPal (to avoid losing 400€).
I've lost the opportunity and maybe I can get them on another store but I don't lose any sleep on it.

For your information, the negligent store was NipponYasan so beware and keep an eye on Paypal customer protection policies and ending dates.

P.D: Also I've read some rumors about this store is going bankrupt because has big debt with Kotobukiya. It was a okay? (not great, not terrible) store but, since 2020 bug, it became fully negligent, ignoring all support requests and not complying preorders (also not returning the money).
