I'm looking for something manages images like a booru except it has to run locally and is not browser based.

I've tried Hydrus Network and it sort of does want i want but it has to be the most autistic piece of software i have ever used in terms of how unintuitive it is.

I think Hydrus is the best thing for you, but if you find a decent alternative do tell.
Maybe try stripping out the things you don't like and leave just the booru stuff behind :ohohoh:

I'm currently messing around with allTags. So far it ticks all the boxes of what i need.

After working with allTags for a bunch of images i can definitely recommend it.

Its very easy to work with. Left clicking an image opens it, right clicking allows you to edit it. Another nice thing is that it remembers the original filename in case you need to restore it. There is also a server to manage a database remotely with multiple people.

A minor gripe is that it could use a few more features for better tag and database management like Calibre has. Restoring a backup is also a pain if you don't use the portable version so keep that in mind.
Though the app is in active development and the creator seems to respond to feature requests on the app's subreddit.

Do I have to manually input tags for images though? I never used these type of things.

I've been using Hydrus for a while now and I can't recommend it enough tbh

pair it up with the companion browser extension and in a few clicks, I can send the link right to it and have all the tag metadata from whatever site it is, pixiv, gelbroou etc auto applied. no manual applying for the vast majority of images. if it has a sankaku or broou page I can get tags super easy

there is still some manual work involved and it takes some getting used to but it's a powerful piece of software that's getting regular updates, I'm mad I did not start using it sooner. the only downside is it doesn't really have a good viewer for manga or doujin but if you want something to quickly process and tag single images then it's your best bet

just copy the MD5 hash on your images and pump them all into the downloader at once and it will even look for them on sites like gelbroou etc and see if it can find a matching image and strip the tag data and apply it for you

id also add it's not that unintuitive if you read the detailed help section on the site, it just dating at first as it is just so much it can do but once you figure it out it's way more simple than most alternatives IMO. and way less work
