In another recent tweet, he also mentions that he is thinking of retiring for good from the games industry. Yet another tweet simply says "Ask Pete Parsons".

Background information:
Martin O'Donell, for those that don't know him, is a notable video game composer. During his time at Bungie (which is is now no longer an employer of) he was responsible for the soundtrack of the original Halo games and Destiny. Recently, he announced that he would be working on Six Days in Fallujah, a game on the receiving end of several cancellation attempts.
He's also known to be conservative/right-leaning, as was pointed out in one of the replies to the above tweets.

Pete Parsons (@pparsons) is the current CEO of Bungie. Take a look at the man's twitter banner.

That aside, the circumstances in which Bungie was bought over by Activision (and Marty's subsequent exit from the company) are complicated. If anyone can provide a short and accurate summary of the events, please leave it below.

It may be true that Marty has uploaded copyrighted content on his Youtube channel, like the complete Music of the Spheres (the rights are owned by Bungie, even though he had a hand in composing). There are also rumors that he was very demanding and a very difficult individual to work with.

I don't want to point fingers, since a lot of things aren't known at this stage. Hopefully it's a purely business affair, but given the politics involved...I'm really not optimistic. He's one of my favourite composers, and Halo's soundtrack made up a good part of my childhood, so it'll be sad to lose his insight from youtube.

What do you all think?

Either he jumped ship after seeing how upper level management was behaving, or he got directly fired and non-compete is keeping him silent. Like how you said, it's likely politics got involved.

Something interesting is this thing I learned about recently called O'Sullivan's Law, which states: "any organization or enterprise that is not expressly right wing will become left wing over time." In the future, something will have to take place to prevent that from happening, but we also need to be careful not to swing the pendulum too far to the right of the political spectrum as well. I don't want my games and anime industry run by fascists, but I also don't want them run by uber conservatives either.

Very short summary of Marty's firing:
- Fired without cause on April 11, 2014. Tweet Archive
- Sued Bungie for unpaid benefits and settled the lawsuit in June 2014 Article Archive

So he didn't leave Bungie but was fired back in 2014, so politics was probably not the main reason (or at least not at the time?)

Also it looks like he deleted those tweets and has posted a new tweet consisting of "Please consider purchasing this soundtrack. The money will help with my huge legal bills. Thank you." (Tweet Archive)
Based on his previous tweets and this one it's likely that Bungie's CEO is trying to screw him legally somehow. Possible legal stuff happening sometime in the near future perhaps?

If you're not with us, you're against us. We're polarized to this point now, unfortunately. And the "right wingers" or "alt-right nazis/fascists" are their boogeyman, even though the latter is oxymoronic.

Everything to the right of communism is right wing extremists now days. I'm dead center on the right wing left wing scales still called a racist nazi pretty much every day. :megu-shrug:
That moment when even classic liberals are now considered right wing because they value individualism. Marxist indoctrination is hilariously strong in the west.

inb4 we find out Martin O'Donnell just wanted to return to making a good game and the diversity hires wanting to push politics complained he was some -ist or -phobe.

judging by leftards behavior in these last 11 years, I'm sure that composer is fired because he's right wing.
