Hideaki Itsuno, perhaps one of the last good developers to still have worked with the company, has announced his departure from Capcom after an illustrious thirty years-long career (archive here).

I just had a thought: we always hear about legendary game designers leaving out of touch companies, but are there any new legendary game designers emerging? I feel like this kind of talent is something that won't ever be replaced, which doesn't bode well for the future of gaming.

Well considering how Crapcom are butchering the games in the new Capcom fighting collection set I am not surprised he left, the horrible censorship they are doing to the Power stone and Rival Schools games that he worked on. The Mvc set they are making will be defiled as well. Oh how we wanted Mvc2 on something other than the shitty Demul emulator, but now they do this.

Talk about wishing on a monkeys paw

I think what happened was sort of obvious. Capcom lied to Itsuno about Dragons Dogma 2 and you can tell when he first announced it he was very happy, but as the trailers went on he sort of looked more and more unhappy to where it became obvious that Capcom did not value his work and what he has done for them for 30 years. It's very clear Dragons Dogma 2 was underfunded, Itsuno was lied about the pay, lied about time he would be able to work on the game and also on top of that was pushed out for Fiscal Year aka 10 days before the Stock market yearly results which leads credence to this being the case and was censored by the Western Branch last minute, as the mods showed that you could still make characters smaller than what the game allowed you to do and also some outfits looked like they covered up a lot of skin.

To be honest Monster Hunter seems to be their priority and casual audiences as well with how much they seem to be really messing with the Monster Hunter mechanics and how every title seems to be filler content for Monster Hunter, with a rinse and repeat approach. Which tells me Itsuno did not wish to have any part of that and it was obvious Capcom no longer cares about Resident Evil, Ace Attorney, DMC, Mega-Man, Fighting Game Collections(Just look at Fighting Game Collection 2 with the Censorship) and Dead Rising Bait And Switch Edition or even building a new franchise with Dragon's Dogma, all the other legacy franchises they are just there for the Monster Hunter game where they think Wilds is going to eclipse World and Rise combined. Capcom needs to lose badly on Wilds so they can get a dose of reality otherwise we will be seeing them trying to pull the legacy franchises as filler than genuine franchises as a whole and using people's nostalgia and ruining it with more censorship.

Monster hunter these days ever since it went from niche portable gaming franchise, to the biggest breadwinner to top even dmc street fighter and residnet evil and megaman of all things these days and part of it i blame is the live action adaptation especially having normie bait like T.I of all people staring in it and dmc now too is going to be more tourist bait outside of the reddit shit with the upcoming "Anime" adaptaiton of it.

If anyone wants a good laugh here is a steam discussion where among other things one of the people who loves and advocates for censorship tries to say they should try to get away with censoring the games in the capcom fighting collections by calling them "director's cuts" despite the main selling point of a directors cut is that it is UNCENSORED.
