Wait for the download to finish after many hours, and enjoy the whole anime in one go on my 4K monitor with my headphones.
After finishing watching an anime, I encrypt it with VeraCrypt and upload it to my unlimited education google drive to archive.
Delete the files on my hard drive.
Rinse and repeat.
I type BDMV

I wish AV1 would be more popular, but it's understandable since encoding it is an absolute nightmare rn.
Simple HEVC encoding is fantastic these days (even if GPU encoding has some bugs and the slower CPU method has to be used for best results) and I hope AV1 will get to that point in the next few years. However even with my hardware I can't encode 1 minute of video in a reasonable time.
actually AV1 encoding ain't as bad as it used to be, it is a mess to understand all the differents encoders and stuff tho
tried transcoding a random 720p video I had laying around with the latest version of SVT-AV1 and I got an average speed of 46 fps on my almost ten year old processor

Last time I tested it, the quality was really not worth it. Maybe for streaming with a low to mid bitrate but not for local files.
Will have to check it out again. Maybe it changed.
