I too love me some Isekai. Lately I've been going through the various villainess ones. :ohohoh: (I like the villainess genre in general especially the Korean webtoon ones).
I do have a small gripe with some isekai stories. They seem to forget their protagonist is reincarnated or summoned. So I do have the impression isekai aspect is inserted for the sake of it. Other then that I can't get enough of the genre. Even if some plots of the manga I follow seem to meld into each other. (especially the revenge isekai's ones)

I prefer Isekai that cut the shit and have tons of barely censored sex. I appreciate the frankness of it, we're all here for the same thing after all.
Well I dont know if everyone is after that but Id lie if that werent part of the appeal for me:shinobu_kaka:

Interesting I was not very interested in those webtoons though it had more to do with the fact that I kept getting annoying ads for them.

Also, sorry if I am misunderstanding. Are you trying to say villainous as in a villain in general or villainess as in a female villain.

Never saw the appeal of softcore porn, either go all the way or don't bother. Though I guess they can't go all the way in Japan because of their shitty mosaic law, but at least that doesn't seem to apply to manga.

Female villainess genre or tag with the reincarnator being put into the body of the villainess. Often a noble girl with a fiance who in your average otome game bullies the heroine. Ends up getting screwed when the heroine essentially cucks the villainess. Most (isekai) stories has the "villainess" trying to evade that bad end (for them). The funniest variants of those stories are when the heroines are also reincarnators but turn out to be bat shit crazy or outright evil.

A good one that I'd recommend is The Villainess Turns The Hourglass, I was really impressed by the character development and how overall grounded it was, at least mostly.
She really is kind of a villain, but the more you read, the more you start to realize that maybe, its the parents fault for all the plot on every side. :kekw:
Although, it's not an "isekai", unfortunately. But I saw you talking about the villainess trope and I thought, hey, why not recommend it?
was this an isekai? I thought it was just a fantasy show :anime-think:

SciFi isekai when. Has that ever been done? Steampunk isekai seems like it's happened but I don't think I've ever seen a guy sent to a future/more advanced civilization
Grimgar is an isekai, although it's not really played on that much because nobody remembers jack fucking shit. The plot is very mysterious even like 12 volumes in, and I should start reading it again.
Honestly, I don't see entering games as isekai, and Grimgar is most likely one of those, but it's still a different world, so whatever.

Is there any isekai you would reccomend?

The ones I know that call my attention are
Konosuba cause it looks kind of funny.
Redo of healer cause I like edgy trash:shinobu_kaka:

And one cant remember the name very well but I think it was about making food out of monsters from dungeons?
You should read No game no life. Its a pretty good manga that has to do with this brother and a sister who play video games all the time and then they get a invite to play chess on their pc. The mc wins and he gets transported to this world that solves things by playing games like chess and such.

I love isekai.
I don't care if people think it's shit or has been ruining anime. I fucking love isekai.
It's fantasy fulfilment. Escaping your current life and being able to be a fuck off hero everyone loves. Hell I even love the ones where the MC is the villain/hated/distained because then you have actual challenge and the people who do grow close to you feel so much more worthy of being there and closer to you, than some harem you get just because lmao he mc.

I love Isekai. I watch most isekais, and hate and love plenty of them. Of course I enjoy normal fantasy as well, a character working his darndest to climb the feudal hierarchy and carve out his own piece in the world. It's admirable and reminds me how much I waste my life watching isekais instead of just doing work.

My life isn't even bad, I just find the dream of leaving everything behind and doing something brand new without fear very endearing.
The Isekai doesn't even have to be action related, or have the MC be a hero in the world. A person being swept away and using their modern knowledge just to live a slightly better life is great too.
Were you a doctor in the real world? Revolutionize the medical industry in your fantasy. Highly skilled bureaucrat? Overhaul the village you live in, make it a major player in the world. Computer Science Major? Well you're fucked

I don't know why I made this thread. I just like isekai.
Honestly it's one of my favorite genres.

I like a lot of things. I don't even need to look for genres too much since I prefer just going for what hits my vibe at that time.
Isekai's are super fun. They can be fun, they can be serious, they can have lots of action, they can have none. They vary so much even if the premise is usually extremely similar, but you can often enjoy it even with that fact. Though I personally find the slice-of-life stuff in it more interesting and fun than the actual goal of "kill the demon lord" "get this object" "do this task".

Isekai's are amazing. I'd love to be Isekai'd. Even if it's more work than reality, it just sounds magical.

I can agree with everyone here, Isekai is a fresh genre in a world of genres that have been too much of the same thing and has been stale where Manga is king and all we get is standard plots and drama but with no real worldbuilding and not enough character development and desired much more. Isekai comes in and helps launch Light Novels into mainstream status to where it's becoming commonplace in America, when long ago it began to really blossom in online communities in Japan, where in Senran Kagura, Mirai talks about reading Web Novels from a laptop in a Shinobi Heart, which feels like it's a thing of it's time where everyone could not wait for the next chapter of what would happen next.

What makes Isekai interesting is the premise might feel the same but everything else after feels wholly original and the creative freedom is massive. It subverts expectations in such a weird way that everyone is not used to, you think it's going be what you have grown up with, but then it manages to stay entertaining go off the beaten path at points throughout and throws surprises. The world building is really well thought out, the characters have depth, villains are not just there to be evil, and also it's not superflous where it's too wordy in the sense of feeling like a grind, some even have unique cultures and languages as well with more lore. To me Light Novels and Isekai are hand in hand a perfect example of why Isekai is popular and why Light Novels are popular as well. It's a match made in heaven where the world people enter into is full of unlimited potential and infinite fantasy itself. It also is a gateway to Visual Novels that are very similar to Light Novels in Japan, because Visual Novels are very similar to Light Novels and you can say if you like one medium you will transition well into the other very well.

My favorite series ever from the Light Novel Genre is Monogatari, but Isekai wise, i do have to say that it's a tie Re;Zero/Konosuba are my top ones. Because Konosuba has this sense of being comedic but also very heart warming in such a playful way that leaves viewers surprised when you tell them it's a Light Novel. Re;Zero the whole thing is entertaining not just because of the gimmick itself, but because of the way it's handled. Infinitely spawning after dying at first made me think there was no point to the whole thing because "would you not know the end result if you died and know how to fix the problem?" but no it is much more than that, it can effect timelines, history, friendships, relationships, etc. Throughout the whole series it drives it home, and Subaru does get better over time, the only filter in Anime is Episode 15 with Emilia/Subaru but other than that, it's a great series as a whole.
