Ideas to shill the forum

So here is the issue, making good content takes a lot of effort, I'm extremely lazy, I just have a few hours a day to be active, and I only have social media(twitter/discord) reach. Getting social media users to join forums is kind of difficult because they are used to instant gratification, and they don't really take too well the slow nature of a forum.

Last time I made a thread that took me about 3 hours to make, got a lot of lurkers (probably reaching 1k) but only 3 new members.

help :hinata-acid:

What sort of people are you hoping to attract to the forum? I was honestly thinking that keeping the count low is ideal since that reduces the chances of inviting in potentially problematic users. As lame as it may be, it's possible you sieved the only three worthwhile members out of those thousand lurkers.

I'll admit that advertisement is not my forte as much as administration, so I can't offer much there. I can say at least in my case, dumping or sharing the link in like-minded or somewhat adjacent communities can help bring in people, as that's how I came across this place.

Hasn't Halo already been purging these?
Oh certainly, as I haven't come across anyone distasteful on the forum yet. He's done incredibly well in curating members thus far. A greater volume of new users may prove troublesome just in terms of numbers alone, though.

We didn't ban anyone on the forum, we only banned one person on the pleroma because they kept fedposting.

If that's the case, then we're doing even better than I thought. It is a slow trickle though, I'll admit. Only 23 new people since I joined, and only a fraction of those have even posted... :mokou-lying:

Pareto distribution even applies to the ratio of lurkers to posters.

I think I only shared the link once in the last week tho.

And the reason why it didn't get cancerous is probably because so far I mostly shared it on my twitter/discord, and despite the autism, my following base is not too bad.

Autism that knows what it's like to be dogpiled and thoroughly repelled by cancel culture bullshit is infinitely superior to normies who would engage in either over a misplaced sense of moral obligation.

I honestly don't think it's a problem if we get an "influx of problematic users", we'll just gatekeep them.
Do you have some YouTuber friends you can make shill your stuff? Ask your friends with many followers and platforms to shill as well.

If that's the case, then why not just shill randomly across places like Reddit or Discord? Gatekeeping is best done when it's proactive.

I highly doubt anyone from Reddit would tolerate this place
I think you underestimate how curious (namely bored) Redditors can get, and that's in an ideal scenario, not accounting for those who might join just to stir trouble.

That point was that we shouldn't be advertising in places where there are a large amount of questionable users, Reddit being among the worst offenders but the same could go for Discord or Twitter unless previously curated subsets are found first. Keeping the place nice and tidy by avoiding cancer ensures the community remains solid and takes less work off the staff who would have to ultimately deal with the pests. Quality over quantity. I don't agree with this "cast a wide net" approach.

Yeah, why not? There are a whole lot of cunnehsseurs on Reddit anyway.
The problem might be another, forums and pleromas are not like Reddit. Platform differences are also cultural.
YouTube, for example, is far more neutral than any other platform.

I think you're underestimating the community, it's very easy to notice who doesn't have the minimum of decorum and isn't here to stay.

I'm pretty sure people from /r/antilolitary would be interested since they had to deal with the same bullshit as us, but I don't have a reddit account

1. Reddit
2. people who don't know better and still use Reddit

thats about all
Reddit is anti-loli, and some lolicons still use it for whatever fucking reason, so theres constant slap fights between the average redditor and the slightly less cucked redditor

Here is the timelapse

2016-2018 Animemes exists, they frequently make memes about lolis, some even lewd
2018 Reddit bans even slighly lewd lolis and things like swimsuits, meme subreddit /r/lolice gets created, it's mostly memes by weebs and a lot of lolicons
2019 Reddit bans the lolice subreddit "for sexualizing minors", /r/lolitary gets created, this time it's not about memes but it's mostly people with a hate boner for lolicons, they organiza to mass report the few standing loli subreddits, and they even report things outside of the site like twitter accounts, and even websites sometimes.

This antilolitary subreddit is probably mostly people from subreddits that got banned because of them.
