On the subject of learning the language itself I yoinked this from a thread on /v/ that's essentially a simplified guide on the steps to learning it, can't speak for it's effectiveness personally but I imagine it's probably been tested enough by autists on both /v/ and /jp/ to be worth the time.

If I say some advice for you guys...
① If you want to learn about basic Japanese grammer and vocabulary...I recommend 絵本(えほん) < ehon >.
絵本 is mean picture book.
Especially, バイリンガル 絵本 is good.
バイリンガル is mean bilingual ( we talk about JP and EN people in Japan )
バイリンガル ( Bai rinn garu ) ← Japanese enter keybord English characters.
And also, you should remember that word.
CD付き (つき) < CD tsuki > < With CD >
( えいごとにほんご CDつき)
< Eigo to Nihonngo CD Tsuki >
< English and Japanese with CD >
You may reserch those words on Amazone.
Anyway, I'll paste some bilingual site for you.
You may check those sites.
I guess, you should read like those books 3〜5 books.
I'm reading about a English book 10times but it's too much trouble.
Probably, 3times are best if you want to read a JP book for learning.
But it's up to you.
Don't work too hard.
