Saw this thread on Twitter and it got me thinking: How does this fucking series still get so much love?

It was funny about 10 years ago when I was 14 but now, to say it doesn't hold up feels like I'm going too easy. I'd be lying if I said there weren't things I liked about Abridged but between the self fellating by the YouTubers behind it, the blatant copyright infringement behind selling DBZ logos as your own merch and the steady stream of SJW bullshit that started leaking into the scripts, shit was just bad yo.

Talking about it on the bird website is always fun because you meet a lot of people who grew up with their little dub and remember it as some kind of comedic masterpiece, who then get offended that you don't feel the same way. Right now, the popular (wrong) take is that it kept the franchise alive in the late 00s and should be credited with the existence of Super.

Here's one particuarly insane tweet that I wanted to share

Gives me a headache just to look at.

I mean I didnt think it was too bad. Yeah it got a little too self serious and not as funny at the end but it had its good moments

The problem is that the fans were starting to see it as better than the actual dbz. Something that even the creators themselves didnt want and it may have been one of the main reasons behind them cancelling the series.

Also contrary to what that "reasonable" new yorker is spouting most people actually dont care much for dbza anymore, afaik. Quoting memes from the series does not mean they still like it. Hell it could be that they dont even know where they came from lol.

Did it kept dbz alive? Ehh I dont think so but I really dont have the knowledge to tell one way or the other

All those abridged series were a trend and like with every trend that normies love it overstayed it's welcome to the point where it's now a husk.
Also TFS always stroke me as odd. They built their entire career around a franchise and never really tried to branch out. I had a friend who was really into their content and every time we watched some it was always the same shit.

Also if you have to waste your time defending people not finding something you like funny then you should just stop interacting with people in general.

"Kept the franchise alive in the late 00s and should be credited with the existence of Super.”

Talk about wanting to ego boost, and he chose the most miserable DBZ series continuation. Even GT was better than the dumpster fire called “Super”

They're a bunch of Burn Loot Murder supporters, so they can rot in hell for all I care.

It's especially bad because they tried to stay relevant after they finally ended the show with more gag voice acting, comics and basically anything except using the actual show for content because they were on the verge of getting sued.
