I would like to follow more jp artists and I know a lot of them have accounts there.

But last time pawoo came up in conversation it was in the midst of beign invaded by chomos and possible feds.

So what do you people think?

and if not is there any other site you would reccommend?

If you make a baraag account you can follow people on pawoo (and vice versa), so either one of them would work fine. A lot of the stuff people post to pawoo is targeted towards other artists, because tbh they're the only ones on there. So it's great if you enjoy seeing people's sketches and studies.

if you wanna follow people on there just... use a different non-fed fediverse instance :wat:

You realise you have a fucking account on our fedi instance right?

I wonder how many of the 1mil+ users of mastadon don't realize that they don't need more than one account.
actually cause a lot of instances defederate (especially mastodon), if you want to interact with more than what the instances already federates with you'll want more than one account...

I don't even want to federate in the first place so I never leave the local timeline lol

Huh. Didn't know that. Seems kind of weird to me though that you would specifically leave a walled garden only to build a wall yourself. Defederation shouldn't even be an option imo.

it wasn't, we have the admin of smugloli on our instance, and apparently they were the reason defederation was made lol.

Wasn't specifically talking about the varis instance, but more in a general sense, that it's weird to me that the option is there, but good to know.

i'm telling you how defederation became a thing.

the smugloli instance, pissed off gargon so much, he created defederation
before that it wasn't a thing

Well since this has sort of become the ask stupid questions thread.

How does federating actually work? I always thought that by default an instance was federated with the rest of the fediverse and the admins could then choose which instances to defederate from.

Or is it an all or nothing thing? In which an instance is either federated with the fediverse or defederated completely and cannot see other instances and viceversa?
