Its an old story but this is just so stupid i had to share it.
Really this is just honestly beyond so stupid and no wonder why communism never caught on in Japan.
The Japanese Communist Party’s daily organ, Shimbun Akahata, recently published an essay criticizing the classic Dragon Quest series for its “strong male perspective” with “gender stereotypes” and “excessive sexiness”, a turn of events some would sooner suspect to happen in the West.
A translated excerpt from the Shimbun Akahata newspaper that discusses the franchise’s “problematic elements”:

It is clear the writer has only ever played one Dragon Quest game, as there are several female characters in future games who assume various different offense-oriented roles:“After giving it some thought, I decided on Dragon Quest, a game I’ve played before, and bought it at a local thrift store a month ago.
It was insanely fun. In the game, you progress through your journey by talking to townsfolk to gather information and defeating monsters to level up. At times you rescue people, defeat mini-bosses, break curses, find treasure, and more. Each of these missions can be completed in about an hour. The feeling of progression is satisfying, and it’s perfect after a hard day of work.
However, there’s been one problem that’s been bothering me throughout the whole thing, and it has to do with gender problems. I feel that there’s strong ‘male perspective’ everywhere… For example, the ‘chosen hero’ who was born to save the world is a male. There’s even a childhood friend who continues waiting and saves herself for the hero.
Even for roles and abilities, male characters are generally assigned to attack, while female characters are assigned to heal and support. The way they speak (using -daze and -dawa endings) is also stereotyped by gender. Moreover, the excessive ‘sexiness’ of the characters is also concerning, such as the character model for the female martial artist that focuses on her breasts and hips, and the use of bunny-girl outfits as armor for female characters. The fact that many towns have sexually-oriented areas is also problematic.
Thinking back, this is the Dragon Quest that I enjoyed during my childhood. Is it truly okay for children to enjoy these nationalistic games? I would like to see it get another look, because of the various influences that can come from the lack of understanding of genders. For now, I will continue to progress through Dragon Quest with a mix of excitement and gloom.”
