Censorship Little Witch Nobeta cutscenes censored, official offsite patches provided

The creator of Little Witch Nobeta has revealed that certain in-game cutscenes have been censored due to the content policies of Steam, Sony and Nintendo. To circumvent this, he provided four offsite patches that you can unlock by beating the game and using a password. I assume you just drop the files into the game directory and call it a day, but I could be wrong. The devs didn't make it very clear.

Im not a fan of removing the cutscenes, but it may be for the best for the devs to not push their luck with steam and sony. (I dont know about nintendo I really wish they,d stop being idiots)

Given steam and sony track record. I still think is a damn miracle that the whole game didn't get boot,
and the devs, at least to my knowledge, have shown themselves trustworthy.

Ok so I read the post. The cutscene in question is a little extra story that you get after finishing the game and collect some items I think. Then you will get to see the censored version of the comic/manga. This is divided in chapters.
At the end of each chapter you get a password that corresponds to the download link for the uncensored version of that chapter.

So if you want the pass you first need to unlock the censored pictures.
Has anyone here finished the game and gotten the pictures?

I was curious and couldn't wait till I finish the game so I took a peek at those files...what is supposed to be censored ? The "uncen" version had blotted out all panty shot and death scene isn't even remotely gory. Is this "censorship" yet another nonsense from the oversensitive thought police ?

I'd argue that the reason is that the switch version had to be censored (cause Nintendo) and instead of doing multiple pipelines they just censored it in all versions and provided this "fix". Not great, but better than outright removing it for good.

Did the encryption keys for the Mega downloads change or something? Tried copy-pasting and entering the passwords myself without any luck.

I'd argue that the reason is that the switch version had to be censored (cause Nintendo) and instead of doing multiple pipelines they just censored it in all versions and provided this "fix". Not great, but better than outright removing it for good.

I believe this is a common practice with developers that intend to have tidbits of mature content while not being strictly mature (which can be sexual imagery like hentai games or graphic imagery like gore). Since Nobeta doesn't make me sign in to view the store page, it would fall under non-adult content jurisdiction. Therefore, mature content (in this case the gore in the comics) would disqualify the game to be listed on these platforms; you can't be on unless you follow the rules, right? So you put out the game in an "acceptable" state, and then offer uncensor/decensor content either in a patch or off-site offering. Not much the devs can do, and so little of the game has that mature content that it wouldn't be a smart move to make the game M/Adult rated.

It would be interesting to see support for a game that has a non-mature version and a mature version. The base game is all-ages (well, more like T+), but a free "adult content upgrade" among the DLC is rated M/mature, which would unlock all the gore and sex. That would be considered a very "high risk" product, though.

Alright, I was going based on the Steam news post for Little Witch Nobeta. The links here (Which I copypasted into an install of Firefox) doesn't seem to have this issue.

EDIT: Upon further digging, there's a Nyaa torrent that contains the game files with the videos already renamed (and without the double subtitles).
