Sound like your problem, specifically education and parenting. The internet has made themselves safer for kids, from parental control, safesearch, filter, and other stuffs.
It baffles me she just glossed over the part where her point hinged on a minor actively participate in an adult space and (implying) minor be accepted and made as comfortable as possible in space they didn't belong.
