Pixiv is banning certain types of paid content to comply with credit card companies.

Pixiv announced that they are banning users from selling content that doesn't comply with credit card company guidelines on their Fanbox (like Japanese patreon), Booth (I guess a market for selling doujins and stuff) and Request (not sure what this is) platforms. I'm not sure if this applies to just art uploaded on the main Pixiv site yet, but it is probably only a matter of time before that is affected as well.

The banned content includes:
Child porn/abuse (guessing they include loli here)
Incest
Bestiality
Rape
Dismemberment

yea my Twitter is blowing up with artists pissed about this

unlike the west, the Japanese dont seem to be fuckin around here. and are not gonna take this lying down. heaps of them talking about pixiv cucking out to the west

a lot of people pointing out other sites that told MasterCard to fuck off

alot are planning to move out and go over to alternative sites such as ci-en or Fantia

i could prob find more examples but 3 should get the point across

pixiv is shooting itself in the foot trying to bow to western companies that should have no say in people's transactions to begin with. id say keep an eye on your fav artists to see where they are moving to and pull your support to fanboxs or other pixiv related paid products and switch to whatever they switch to. money specks do scream with it

I hope the reaction is big and loud enough for pixiv to reconsider their decision.

I mean I do not know enough about how the back end of this works but did this credit card companies just now decided to ask pixiv to censor this stuff? If not then why are they now caving in to their demands?

https://nitter.kavin.rocks/seri3ma/status/1592557575869906944#m jsut a thread with what the real problem with pixiv
i hope is that problem and not about art
If true then that is fine, honestly that is a concern regarding AI art I was worried about the most, of course as the people on the thread say it would be better if pixiv came out and cleared the waters.
It would be unfair to say pixiv is completely innocent
If what i have hear previously is as true as this, their inability to properly moderate illegal content certainly contributed to it
Definetly they need better moderation, though to be fair the bigger the website the harder to moderate and pixiv is far from the only place online that has awful shit like that

I hope that's the case as well and this doesn't affect artists.

But this isn't the first time MasterCard decided to have editorial input on what art can be made, patreon while shit banned loli and other genres because MasterCard was at the end of the chain and demanded that.

If that was the case I think they would talk about it violating laws rather than credit card guidelines.

you know sell CP and other shit is violating credit card guidelines too , they probably want avoid backlash and police
and like the other tweet saying they say article 26 blabla is a law about illegal content not regular expression.
wait and see anyways because for me is so unclear and the thread i read is very hardcore so idk

The day I learned about stable diffusion I knew it was going to fuck us over.
:cirno-laugh:

MasterCard has been fucking up these platforms long before stability AI even existed.
Forgot about the problems subscribe star had or patreon after it shit the bed and banned people, or the other patreon alternatives that shut down because of payment processors?
This is because of the US government implementing laws likes FOSTA-SESTA and all the other garbage that polices the internet.
Same with ESG and how every corpo has to suck tranny dick and promote how lovely it is.

In similar news, the Tokyo Police Department is requesting credit card companies JCB, Visa, and Mastercard cut off their payment processing for US site FC2 over hosting uncensored content. I'm not sure why they think they have to right to do such a thing, but it would set a terrible precedent for the whole internet if they comply.
