At this point anyone who likes anime/JP games and hasn't learned Japanese or isn't at least attempting to is simply a cuck. Why would you let these awful people be the middle-man between you and your entertainment?
Yep, going to continue being vocal about it in hopes of it getting better (and also convincing more people to start learning JP), but it's as you said: even with a faithful localization, it's still a better experience in Japanese. So even if we reach the point where we get what we want there's still a reason to keep learning. And I'm certainly not stopping after putting in so much time already.

"tee hee im going to put funny memes and make deviations from the script"
NIGGA THIS IS POST KOISURU WATERLOO, YOU'RE GONNA DIE

"professional translator"
bitch she is a self admitted N2, any serious translation job and even many media translation ones would throw her resume in the shredder immediately
To be fair, maybe she saw Ene's posts and all the people shitting on the "translation" there. Probably too used to having her already too big ego stroked constantly so when a tiny bit of criticism comes her way she loses it.

Sounds like a lot of localizers, doesn't it? Wonder if it's some sort of disease.
The scrutiny of the translation is directly proportional to the nicheness of the series
The average hero academia fan is not going to look twice at an out of place meme but the viewer of a lolicon anime loaded with a laundry list of fetishes is going the notice the smallest deviation from the script as the groups translation integrity defenders and series fans approaches 1

you were told to not tread with rhythm

If you mean that faggot in the reply, it wasn't about that for me.

The reason I pointed that guy out was because of his retarded statement about studying Japanese and "not being able to learn from anime". For him "studying" is probably reading fucking Genki or some shit.

Not to mention the "I know Japanese better than blablabla" is fucking retarded because, thanks to the bitch herself, you wouldn't even need to know any Japanese to point that shit out. She did it herself and boasted about it.

The problem is that it's not only Japanese entertainment that this is happening, It also happens to Chinese, Korean and even German entertainment when they get translated to English.

I am trying to learn Japanese, but I'm not gonna only consume entertainment from Japan for the rest of my life, so this problem needs to be solved at the root of it.

China and Korea only make pure trash, and the only good German games I can think of off the top of my head are the Gothic/Risen series. The reason why learning Japanese is so important is because there are literally thousands upon thousands of Japanese games.

While I agree that learning japanese in order to get the full true experience is a good idea. I think another approach would be to encourage fan translations.

In my opinion the main issue is that localization and translation work is very centralized at the moment. Most of the anime is done by cruchyroll or funimation, manga has more names but it is still very few options.

Games is the same with the big game companies.

What I am getting at is that is we need to break the monopoly the current companies hold over japanese media, and while cutting them out by learning japanese is a potential solution, adding more options is another just as valid.

Now I admit that doing that with games is more difficult. Still something to consider imo.

I mean didnt varis had a group of users working on fan translations?

Problem is that fan translations are not immune to the same "failed writer syndrome" that plagues official translations, where they want to use someone else's game as a medium to promote their terrible writing. And game translation in particular requires not just Japanese knowledge, but also a high degree of programming knowledge. It's not like scanlation where you just need to know how to use an image editor.

As western culture increasingly continues to ruin Japanese games even at the source, I think we need an extreme solution like killing off localization entirely, not competing with it.

My one worry is that Im not sure, how feasable that is.

Here's a rare case of under localization. Yeah Lomei is technically a correct way of romanizing ローメイ, but it misses the pun in the original name. ローメイ is the Japanese word for maze/labyrinth 迷路 (meiro) spelled backwards. A proper localization would be something like Zema Island.

Yeah I've heard they left the names of locations as they are? But preserving the pun would have been more faithful here.
