You might be seeing speculation that localizers made the character yuzuriha in Xenoblade chronicles 3 "non-binary"
I ask you to ease off the accelerator for a bit
we do not have conclusive evidence that tampering has taken place
The most we have is so no name tranny journalist writing some clickbait fanfiction to own teh gamerz

The japanese text does not use any pronouns we can use to deduce her sex and in game it is listed as unknown

There is some info i want to verify
-how yuzuriha is referred to by other characters
-if yuzuriha's sex is unknown in the jp version
-if so if there is a "chichiro" moment of revealing her sex

Maybe you want to poke and prod at the localizers to bait them into a "heh gamers" mask off moment

Also
Bounding into comics posted an interview with a couple translators
Here it is if you wanto to give it a read

Better off taking the slow approach with this one, or else we'll make ourselves look like fools if we jump on this without evidence. But seeing as the other 2 games got censored and altered in dialogue, there is a high probability. Let's brace for impact.

Another shitty localizer

Udon Entertainment distributes the Summer Time Render manga. Thanks to a subreddt post it's been exposed that udon's release of the manga is censored.

In that thread you'll see the user UDON-EKO who is the head editor for udon defending the censorship of Mio and Shadow Mio's nude scenes because of her age (15) claiming legal issues while justifying why the loli character Heine is ok to show naked because she's hundreds of years old. Usually they go "thousands of years old isn't an acceptable excuse". Haven't dug into it myself but I've been told the Made in Abyss manga which has a decent amount of loli nudity is present in the english release so sounds like bs from the editor.

The censorship, left is original, right is udon

these people can't make up their fucken minds on if the numbers matter or not

half the time they will say the "thousand-year-old dragon/demon/vampire loli" isn't an acceptable excuse cuz it still looks like a child to them, but then the other half of the time they will go off about some 15~16-year-old with tits the size of watermelons and act like they are "literally a child" cuz the wiki has there age listed as a no no number

so does the age matter or fucken not? I think this editor is coping and is overly careful not to trigger the normies. so fuck em, dont buy shit from them again since they care more about normies than real fans anyway won't matter to them if people stop buying their shit then.

So the Udon-ECO calls the original manga "Child Porn" yet is okay with distributing said "Child Porn" with some "minor" edits. What hypocrisy.

Also who unironically keeps bringing up the 1000-year-old loli argument? where did that even come from?

From what I've seen most lolicons don't care spaz out over a fictional character's age.

I think the japanese publisher should be informed that their english partner's representative in an official capacity referred to their uncensored work as CSEM
It probably wont get them to reverse the decision but giving the editor and publisher a punch in the nose should give them a nudge in the right direction

The publisher is jump comics (shonen jump)

EDIT:
Hellhammer pointed out on Fedi that Udon media is based in Toronto, Canada
In the US it obviously is protected speech but I think that would be classified as CSEM there and would be illegal to publish without edits

Yeah, I want to see this information as well. That's why right now I have XC3 on emulator so I won't have any regrets. That could change, though. Also, I think it does make some sense for the English localizers to use "they" if the JP text doesn't use a discrete gendered reference. Now the question is, why doesn't the JP script default to boy or something? Maybe the Japanese don't have a default when referring to an androgynous person? I got the impression Juniper was some kind of opposite to Floren, but it seems it's even more unclear, lol.

Maybe it's just me, but it makes sense to default to one of the two pronouns that you can justify to refer to the person as. For example, you have someone like Najimi from Komi-san who I just refer to as a he. He has a much lower voice and a major lack of feminine features (minus the superficial female uniform, pink hair, and chibi facial features). It's clear to me he was obviously designed to ride the androgyny line so that he could have funny interactions with both the boys and girls, and that's completely fine with me. However, I settle on him as a male because it makes the most sense to me and also it lets me refer to him easily (because that's the entire point of a pronoun). As for Juniper, I'm not happy with the games journo article that pushes identity politics co-opting of Xenoblade, but I'm not far enough into the game to see what it's like (haven't even met our Agnus folk yet). Hopefully our more trusted JP-understanding folks can share information with us.

P.S.: I was worried Xenoblade 3 would get muddied up in current year politics, and to no surprise, here we are. :hinata-acid:

That's a shame about Udon. The censorship doesn't hide the fact that people still complained about the fanservice. On ANN, Erica Friedman reviewed the three volumes and bitched about the fanservice. It's a bit odd, considering that she worked with Udon on the Prince of Versailles manga. I'm sure if it was a yuri series, then it'd get a pass.

All those in the media are a bunch of whiny bitches that pretend they know better than the average consumer, while if hardcore fans didn't make it popular it would have faded in obscurities. The same is happening to each new Niche market that is gaining traction, just look at how they started complaining about the Souls game's difficulty while nearly none of them played Demon Souls.

In the above VN it also has a "jelly donut" moment; it decided to replace the story of Orihime and Hikoboshi with Romeo and Juliet

This is because the localizer thinks its audience is a bunch of knuckledraggers too stupid to be trusted with seeing the mythological characters of the original authors culture

The very existance of these people are supported by the fact they think they know EVERYTHING better than EVERYONE.
They can't err, they never miss a joke, they're fun and whoever thinks otherwise is evil incarnate trying to make their good acts of pure selfishlessness to the world null and void saying "hey i don't like this translation you did, you dumbed down the original for no good reason and changed the story the authors intended to tell", so don't refrain to call them lolcowlizers, for they think tumblr jokes, weaksauce memes and fanfics besides the incessant mentalhealthflagging, disability olympics and pronounsplaining are ART above ANY criticism because you don't have sex or something.

P.S.: Is that a pair of fruit flies on the screen above the mountains?

I think this thread is worth linking here for any onlookers
Localizer toiling has certainly exacerbated the controversy
The arcade mode line is 100% percent correct however various subtle tweaks help play into their narrative
Changes like modifying his pronouns in the encyclopedia dancing around any mention of him being male, and avoiding using any pronouns for bridget in his bio (strange because they love to aposematically list them) were absolutely malicious ideological alterations

I can say with confidence this was a coordinated attack
this happened and spread so fast and the continues the trend of trying to reframe otoko no ko as trannies
>localizer goes rogue and makes discreet changes
>goes to its grooming discord and leaks the arcade ending
>gets its troon friends to spread the narrative at zero hour and dominate the narrative

It appears some people on the japanese side are noticing more that there are creative liberties taken with their media overseas
