Yeah it's not like she was the only bad egg on the Yakuza staff. At least two of them are ResetEra members.

Even if I'm not surprised at this it still pisses me off. Or well, it would if I wasn't learning Japanese and had to rely on these morons for my games.

Still, I refuse to believe ResetEra is a real place, or these people for that matter. How can you hate videogames so much and still constantly bitch about them instead of doing something else? How can you make them your livelihood when you hate them?

Everyone who has an account on RetardEra should be lined up in front of a wall and shot
"A bit extreme" I would have said a while back but at this point... I chose this username for a reason

Here's Steiner using the latest My Hero Academia chapter to excuse previous examples of Localizer's butchering works.

For some context in the original Jp version of this chapter, Horikoshi has the character Camie speaking in a bunch of
Internet lingo with annotations explaining all of them, to my knowledge, the character hasn't spoken like this in previous chapters.

A bunch of people thought this was more nonsense with localizers adding cringy memes into the script but no this time it was just the author being cringy.
so no Steiner's going back and retroactively saying that this is how all their localizations have been and that any critique levied against them has been misguided.

Not familiar with this series, but the 多分 and 知らん in the annotations makes me think that they are just joke annotations and that "slang" she is speaking probably doesn't exist, so it doesn't make sense to translate it using slang that people actually use.

I just love how localizers love to play this game of "The Japanese version is not interesting and re-uses the same words and expressions over and over!"....Well, if they wanna play that game...how many localizations have you seen using these exact same expressions (and variations on them) over and over again? (off the top of my head):

"Piece of cake!"
"A sinch!"
"When push comes to shove"
"You/he/she don't pull any punches"
"Have our/your work cut out for you/us"
"No skin off my back"
"Lets give it a whirl"
"Looks like we've hit the jackpot"
"Looks like the Cat is outta the bag"
"Searching every nook and cranny"
"Sticking out like a sore thumb"
"Look alive, people!"

I am not saying that's a bad thing necessarily, but they should stop being hypocritical about it.

it's explained by the nature of their illness that morphs people into NPCs that constantly speak in the same tone about the same message but consider themselves unique and superior

Thank God I learned Japanese to a decent level. Fuck these retards, imagine paying for an inferior product and years after the superior original version is out. I hope one of you localizing faggots are reading this: Get fucked, you can't gate keep me.
That is the concern too , how long until these scumbags actually start gatekeeping learning Japanese itself ? to prevent us bypassing their bullshit agenda.

I don't think this will happen. Learning a language is a very creative process that no amount of faggots can gatekeep. You can argue that it will be just like how academia is gatekept by communist retards (see Randy Harris' new book "The Linguistics Wars" where he documents how Chomsky is gatekeeping the field of theoretical linguistics with his nonsense). But in the end, you just have to spot the fuckers and you should pave the path by yourself.

A more realistic concern is how they are forcing things to be changed at the source now, but they can't erase the decades of great games that already exist.
Thank god for emulation. It is possibly the only way a lot of older games can be preserved in their original state.

I kinda wonder if any of the translator's other "creative" lines got touched up any. They weren't really as egregious as the "property is theft, kid" line if I remember correctly, but the translator was really boasting about them on his twitter (still private, heh)

Seems like it's a little bittersweet, though, since the update adds denuvo. I wonder why you'd add that after that sensitive sales period has passed, and all the pirates who wanted to get the game probably already have?

Apparently they're working on some paid DLC. Probably for that.

Another LOOCALIZATION Fiasco/Censorship story that immediately springs to my mind , is how Hitler No Fukkatsu: Top Secret on Famicom by Capcom , was butchered and Censored , when it was made into Bionic Commando. The Change fundamentally destroyed the game along with worse sound ( Because the NES was inferior to the Famicom when it came to overall hardware ).

They changed any references to Nazism ( The Bad Guys are actual Neo Nazis who want to resurrect the 4th Reich using Modern Sci-Fi Tech ) or even the main villain being Adolf Hitler himself , Fundamentally ruining the actual POINT of the game itself. But hilariously Hitler's Exploding Head Gory Death scene was intact even in the NES US Release , So the Entire Censorship was fucking pointless to begin with. SO STUPID.

Also hypocritical is if a Western Game Developer Scumbag makes a game with a similar premise , it NEVER Gets Censored. But when Japan makes something similar about Fighting Neo Nazis like Hitler No Fukkatsu; Top Secret , they have to Change and Censor it EVEN THOUGH THE NEO NAZIS ARE THE BAD GUYS :asui-what: the same happened with so many Older 80s and 90s Japanese Titles like SNK's P.O.W - Prisoners of War , Where the Bad guys are CLEARLY Communist Scumbags , but SNK was forced by their US Division to change the villains into No Name Guerilla's.

Loocalization Scumbags I'm convinced are just the Censorship Wing of the Murican Govt.

Murica's " ONLY WE HAVE THE GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO MAKE GAMES WHERE COMMIES AND NAZIS ARE THE BAD GUYS " was absolutely a thing in the 80s and 90s , as a way to Censor Japanese Video Games dealing with content where both Ideologies were bad guys , and you had to fight em.

This was the case with Anime , Manga , Japanese Live Action Films as well during that time. the 80's and 90's are Today Loocalization scumbaggery on steroids. atleast in the modern age we have the option to play , read , watch those contents without any strings attached ( for the most part ) , so even if things are worse today societally , I'm still glad I'm not living in the Olden era where it was , FAR FAR , WORSE.

Also Obligatory video for reference lol

Ahh Yes the most Evil Villain in Contra Rebirth , Chief Adolfin Salamander :ROFLMAO: Also side note , Contra ReBirth absolutely made a Jojo Reference with " Chief Salamander " ( Fucking LOL ) doing the Jojo Pose.
