Discussion Shows That Desperately Need A Second Season

Thread Description
Animes that need follow-ups

I'm currently malding due to shows I like not having any more seasons so I'd like to list a few to the void.
This isn't necessarily just a second season, just. shows that need a follow up in general

And before some smart ass comes in and says "Just read the manga/ln" fuck you, and go kill yourself.

anyway
  • Oda Nobuna no Yabō
NjIuanBn

If you're a lolicon and you haven't watched this show, then what the fuck are you doing. It's full of incredibly cute lolis and takes place in an alternate history Japan where Nobunaga is a girl.
There isn't really much more to say it's a cute and funny show and deserves a second season
  • A Sisters All You Need
Zg.gif

Even if you don't like incest (In which case the hell is wrong with you), it's a good show, with a very relatable story.
It's made by the Haganai writer and you can expect about the same sort of themes in it, except in a college/salaryman sort of setting rather than High School.
Nayu is incredibly cute and worth watching the show for alone

  • No Game No Life
My5qcGc

Who hasn't seen this show? You should know the ending that they left the anime at. Just... fuck you producers.
  • Spice and Wolf
b3Zlci5qcGc

Not sure I need to explain this one either. Who doesn't want more cute and wholesome wolf wife helping you gain your riches

Definitely NGNL and SaW. Majimoji Rurumo is another fun anime that deserves a sequel.

Oda Nobuna no Yabō
It was a surprisingly decent show despite its generic premise. One problem: It's a Madhouse anime. They never make sequels as a matter of principle.

No Game No Life
I recall that season 2 was confirmed in 2021, so we just gotta wait for more info.

Spice and Wolf
Season 3/reboot was teased a while ago as well. Couldn't agree more that we need another season.

After an unfortunate accident, completely normal heterosexual high school student Kouta Shibaki is branded as the school pervert.
:shinobu_kaka: alright, sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out. Sounds very "anime" if you get what I mean :cirno-laugh:

:hibiki-pain: Overlord gets 5(?) seasons, yet the cute and funny Nobuna can't get a second.

Ah fuck they made Alderamin on the Sky.
I loved that show, that needs a season two too :gura-pain:

I feel like older adaptations made more of an attempt to be more complete rather than just an advertisement for the source material. I wonder what caused that shift.
I imagine it's the market just getting flooded with stuff.
There's so many light novels out now to adapt I think some corps may think it's a better choice to try and adapt as wide a net as possible to hit those 1 or 2 gems, rather than invest too much into one thing.

that's just a guess though I have no clue how the hell the anime industry works.

Hmm, looking into it it seems like LN to anime adaptations only started to boom in the late 00's. I guess LNs weren't really a big thing before then.

Source (every LN to anime adaption by year):

A couple come to mind.

The next one needs no introduction, but at this point it just needs a full reboot. Would have been nice to have gotten a second season of this one in the style of the 1997 version.

What I would like to see more is series that do a full reboot without fillers, or those that stay more true to the manga.
Some series really got destroyed because of those two elements.

D Graymen for instance is annoying to watch because all you ever see is more filler than actual story moments. And when they so called continued it they replaced the voice actors and art style which makes it stand out. Bleach falls in the same category with so much more filler than actual story tied together and Naruto takes the crown.

Oh boy.

Needs a concluding Arch animated.

Needs more :D

Needs the second half animated.

moooooore!

Needs more as I love my Gals :P

Needs a second season as it is one of the worst shows I have ever seen, and I want to know if it can go lower.

Plus others people have already mentioned.

Oh I just remembered Eromanga Sensei was unfinished. It probably has a disappointing ending like Oreimo anyway, where he ends up with the sister instead of best girl Kuroneko/Yamada Elf.
Didn't the original author die before finishing it? That anime was so underrated though.

Considering Shaman King came up on top and not only redid themselves, they finished the series in the anime unlike some I watch where the manga has the end.

Air Gear

I watched the anime first then began to read the manga only to find out it continued for a much longer period, the anime just doesn't cut it and leaves out all the more important battles and such. At best, Air Gear would've topped with maybe +50 more episodes at least... bringing it to a lot but still not as much as One Piece, Bleach or Naruto.

Deadman Wonderland

Just like with Air Gear, I started watching Deadman Wonderland and I fell inlove with it... sure it can be the slight of the 'top edge' but it still has cool aesthetics and the manga covers so much more.

Berserk

Sigh. Look, Berserk is absolutely amazing and by far my favorite series to boot but we need MORE out of the anime.. not just the same few arcs we've been covering. With how long Berserk is, I can understand how difficult it would be making the anime up to date.. but just one additional new arc in anime fashion would be a fresh of nice air.

imagine watching an incest anime then having this cringe of a take :cirno-laugh:
I like wincest as much as the next guy, but this author has a bad habit of making the side girls have a better personality and better chemistry with the protag than the sister.

That's fair :zt-think:
You could says something similar is occurring with A Little Sister is All you Need, however the main... heroines? are both quite likeable.
did I mention that show needs a sequel?
I don't wanna read i'm illiterate :satania-cry:

Needs the second half animated.
This one is gonna need a reboot, seeing as the ending wasn't the one in the manga and a lot was just tagged on. If I recall, even the order of the story wasn't correct at some parts.
I would rather see a full reboot, but not with the horrible Bastards animated style, because it makes the series look too clean.

One other series that comes to mind that was still promised a second season. It also needed its ending changed for a second season to be made possible.

Would like to also add Monster Musume to the mix of series that was constantly said to have a second season release.

Claymore anime is actually very accurate, only issue is the last episode or 2 where it has an anime original ending, so you could just reboot those two episodes similar to High School DxD did for season 4.
Though I would be fine with remake :D

Also Monster Musume is great :D

Kodomo No Jikan

Mostly because I just want to piss off the moral police.
But being a consumer and advocate of erotic loli artwork
I legitamently enjoyed it. Another season would also restore
my faith in japans desire to maintain its unique creative identity.

Darker than Black.

One of my favorite animes ever. The action, the more mature
setting and the story. Definitely a crowning achievement of Studio
Bones' original works. Too bad the story didn't really go anywhere.
The fact that the end of Gemini baited a sequel yet never came out
with one is borderline unforgivable.

Kuromukuro
82281l.jpg

Not one of PA's best works. But like DTB it ended on a cliffhanger that pretty
much demanded a follow-up yet never got one. Tensai Okamura sure loves leaving
me hanging.

Air Gear
18227l.jpg

Loved it for being a raunchy little shounen and appreciated the vulgar English dub.
It got a nice 25-episode run but like too many anime adaptations it didn't cover the
full source material. And the anime even skipped a lot of the manga with that obscure
3 episode OVA. I want to see a continuation from the Devil's Thirty Thirty.

Elfen Lied

Best anime with the shitiest filler ending. I'm an edge lord so anything with blood,
incest, rape, and lolicon is an automatic winner for me. This anime had all of that.
But since the manga was still in serialization when the anime was being produced it
not only fell into the niche of not covering the full source material it also got a filler
ending that confused the shit out of everyone. This is why I think it could do with a full
reboot from a different studio rather then a second season. If this was rebooted by
Madhouse and directed by Tetsurō Araki, OH MY GOD!

Highschool of the Dead
25132l.jpg

This anime first aired when I was around 10 or 11 years old and years later it still holds a special place
in my heart due to how much it continues to piss off the ugly feminist dykes of the anime community
all these years later. But yet again it ended on a cliffhanger that didn't go anywhere. The reason why
I'm willing to forgive this not getting a second season though is due to the hiatus the manga took and
the eventual death of its author. Rest in peace Daisuke Sato.

Magical Girl Raising Project
81087l.jpg

While this was just another dark twist on the magical girl genre that was kicked off by Madoka Magica, I loved
it for its carnage. But what makes this anime require a sequel is the sudden development of the main character
near the end.
Koyuki was a whiny scared little brat thought out the entire season but the last few episodes showed
that she was training to actually become somewhat of a badass. We need another season to explore that side of her.

Honestly I liked the anime ending better than the manga. The manga got kinda stupid after where the anime left off.

To be frank, it's been years since I read the manga. So I vaguely remember parts of it. What parts did you think were stupid? The only part that I remember that transpired after where the anime left off is the fight between nana and that one other girl that wasn't Lucy.
