Developed by Chinese developer Black Jack Studio and officially licensed by Square Enix, Front Mission: Borderscape was
announced back in April to no fanfare, with only a teaser image and message released on an official English Twitter account, implying an overseas release might have been planned.
However, on December 15th, it was
discovered that the Twitter account and official site had been pulled and was offline with no explanation. It seems the game has now been
repurposed into a suspiciously similar substitute published by Black Jack Studio’s parent company ZLONGAME, titled MECHARASHI. No Square Enix logo appears on any of the key art, so it seems the IP license may have been revoked.
According to
the official site, MECHARASHI will continue to be a “near future SF Robot SRPG”, where the player will be a commander tracking down a mercenary group and a mysterious female organization.
Mecha have been changed to be “original” as well, and will have customizable features – it is not known how much the game will mimic the previous in terms of gameplay.
