This VR game had a scene where you had to shot yourself on the head to return to the real world. Apparently this was too disturbing for some people so they added an option to toggle it off.
That was years ago, but apparently some redditors complained and the developer said "we can do better" and completely removed it from the game because it might be triggering for people with suicidal tendencies.

Absolutely nobody liked this change, not even reddit, a lot of people complained and the game got review bombed.

Here is a video where you can see the scene, deeply shocking and disturbing, I know.

Anyway, this developer has clearly shoot itself on the head with this beyond stupid decision.

Please comment your thoughts :hinata-hyper:

It's always some idiot that takes on some retarded ideology and needs to take a "decision" that they see as "world-changing" and publicize their virtue and how they'll save us.
Unhappy people with no self-purpose are so fucking annoying.

This bears the question: users who bought the game a long time ago and now want to update the game, they lose content that they originally bought for, will they be able to get a refund?

I tried it. Bought the game +1 year ago and played below 2 hours. The refund got automatically rejected because of the 14 Days refund policy. But maybe you have luck with steam support when you talk with a human.

This is my complaint. Forget whatever the console and Epic drones are saying, the problem with Steam is the loss of control.

Most of the time they don't even give you patch notes for every update, you're forced to download a new version that you may or may not think is an improvement. There's no system at all to support rolling back or opting out of an update.

Back in the day, if you wanted to go from version 1.04 to 1.05, you find the installer that does precisely that version change. Or you have one of the other kinds, where the patch for v1.03 can be installed on top of any previous version.

Sure, that means you can no longer force the adoption of a new version. But that just means you need to make it something the users will want to update to, instead of making updates your users would reject if they could.

You can easily do that if the developer enables it. Stellaris has that function

Not really. That's not the intended use for those, it's not a case of enabling a function that Steam provides. What they've done here is a bit of administrative workaround by creating new branches. Maybe it's even automated as part of their build cycle, creating the new beta to hold the live version, then updating the default branch with your latest patch.

Stellaris is a great example because they clearly want to offer this ability: GOG actually does have a feature that provides access to many previous versions, and the game has changed enough that you may want to.

Steam takes authority over patches away from you, and it's possible to create a system that re-introduces the control that it takes away inherently.

All periods were always "sensitive", so they basically crippled themselves for nothing.
If they're consistent they will stop making violent games altogether, considering the "sensitive times" we're living in.
Unless it's some kind of negative publicity idea.

Ironic making a game about guns yet being against such things irl. Like damn its just a fucking video game and it has no impact at all in realitiy whatsoever.

Jesus people really need to get over themselves.

Censorship is cancer but retroactively adding censorship is double cancer.

While people applaud the ability for developers to patch their games after release with ease nowadays. It also opens the door for this kind of bullshit. (though that door has been opened for some time now)

Especially, in this day and age where most developers will cuck at the slightest sign of a twatter soy out.

Also, lol at that 41% comment.

Update to a game is "off-topic" now LMAO.
Wow
what a bunch of cucks are these devs; and few years ago I remember hearing about this game and liking it especially since those are the Polish devs. Well, looks like since the second half of the 2010s Polish devs just keep getting cucked themselves I guess. :megu-shrug:
