According to the japanese twitter account for the game the japanese ratings board refused to rate it unless they tone down the violence which the devs refused to do.


Its often good to not forget that Japan is not inmune to screeching over fiction. Its just that in their case is less about sex an more about violence

While it's good to see the devs won't censor their game to appease that shitty ratings board, it would be even better if they include JP subtitles in the international release. That way Japanese gamers can still play it if they're interested. I think Gears of War 5 did this, too (correct me if I'm wrong).

They did. CERO only affects console releases so they can buy it on Steam uncensored.

Also the western console version might also have Japanese support too. It doesn't seem to list the supported languages on the PS store like it does on the Nintendo Eshop, but I was checking the Japanese Amazon sales rankings and the western PS5 version was pretty high up there so they are definitely importing it.
