Well, the Japanese ruling party Liberal Democratic Party, proposed laws to regulate "harmful content" many times, so when it comes to politics everything is fucked.

This is true, but now days the LDP has far to many powerful upper house lawmakers that smack down any regulation attempts with massive success. Basic Law for Youth Healthy Development was the big fear mongering regulation bill from them and Taro Yamada and several others got every inch of freedom of expression regulation removed with just a simple sit down with the authors of the bill. LDP as of right now is in a fairly good position, you have Kishida who has swatted away United Nation regulation attempts already, you have guys like Fujisue who are hard conservatives that have fought just as hard as Yamada and now you have old politicians like Amari(LDP Secretary general) making calls to protect freedom of expression.(this would be unheard of a decade ago)

Sanae Takaichi is also someone that has done a big turn around(Her campaign was ran by the head of the manga department) and she constantly screeched freedom of expression on the campaign trial, still she is one they need to keep a close eye on and I dont blame anyone for that. Supposedly Fujisue has actively talked to her and got good results.

If you want a party that is about to win big this election that is just choked full of freedom of expression warriors(this is literally what a lot of them call themselves) then you would support Nippon Ishin no Kai. They are the right wing libertarian party and typically worked alongside LDP, they also really hate commies like noone else.

Well, unfortunately I don't live in Japan, so I can't do anything but retweet some shit on twitter for the Japanese people who follow me. :konata_cry:

Another update with this raging storm, a lower house communist member Yoshiko Kira kicked the hornets nest again just an hour ago with these words in an Abema interview

"Yoshiko Kira, a member of the House of Councillors: "If we can reach a consensus that this kind of expression is really bad and that it is not profitable, I think creators will stop making it."

The JCP must be furious that this is raging just before an election and trending all over social media. The online left dont know how to process it either, they just seem to be resorting to whataboutism or just keeping their mouths quiet. Some genuinely pro freedom of expression JCP politicians(these exist) tried to jump in and deny it, but then you have so many instances popping up that contradict them and they just go silent.

Well, maybe all that raging before the elections is a good thing.

Found this twitter thread explaining the situation in japan.

Sounds like even with the LDP remaining in power they have their own pro-censor people.
Im not sure I understand what they are saying but I think its a given that there are procensorship people in all parties now wheter they,ve been bitten by the woke bug or are just using it as a way to get more votes/favor I think its important to show them that this is the wrong course of action

In addition to this, this same politician was one of the leading members that fought against previous loli regulation 10 years ago. That isnt the case anymore.

"Communist Party of Japan candidate Yoshiko Kira (Tokyo Election Constituency) writes in her blog, “Let’s protect doujinshi and Comiket” from the TPP and the revision of the Child Pornography Law. >The Japan Communist Party, which has persisted in its opposition to the revision of the Tokyo metropolitan ordinance, will continue to fight together with Comiket participants."

Good chance some of your favourite mangaka are absolutely dragging the JCP on social media though, seen quite a few takes. I think more people are talking about this than the current elections!

I can imagine is because its a complete 180 of their position on a pretty big issue. If it had been someone with no previously known stance I imagine the reaction would not have been that big, still big but not as much.

Makes me wonder whats the reasoning behind it. Are they hoping it will give them more votes, has something happened to this person that made them change their stance? Have they been brainwashed by western idiocy?

I wonder if it could really be done,
another thing to point out is that many companies and people get their profits from this.
this could cause many people to lose all or part of their jobs and earnings and many companies could lose a lot of money.
this is not only bad for otaku, it is also bad for japanese society and would create a crack in one of the main pillars of japan's economy.
people who support this are stupid and don't know what they are doing.
also how they would specifically limit the content is another important thing, because in principle they could limit a certain amount of content but they are not going to stop it there, and also how they would specifically determine as ''CP'' within the manga and anime.
I think 90% of the content created today falls into that category.
this includes many ecchi manga with excellent sales that their prohibition would make lose thousands and millions of dollars and would put their writers out of work.
this can not be bought or banned in australia or any other location.

that's why I'm not really worried about this situation.
at least, I want to believe that these people are not so imbecile to accept this kind of regulations so easily, and they have as legal backing their own constitution and a great lack of evidence.
