Discussion The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Remake slated for 2025

Thread Description
English version to be handled by GungHo
All I care about is whether or not PH3 will be involved with the game. They always have great AA options and, looking at the Daybreak II updates, are slowly getting into using DLAA, XeSS, TAA, and hopefully FSR too eventually, for AA. I don't see PH3 listed as a developer on the Steam page. Hopefully that's just an oversight when they set up the Steam page? Falcom's atrocious when it comes to optimizing their games and offering good graphics options.
I'd rather they didn't work with westerners. Falcom is one of the few uncorrupted Japanese devs left.

PH3 only handle technical stuff such as optimization, graphics options, bug fixing and so on... They have no input on anything else...

That doesn't really matter, it's still an opening for western influence to seep in. Bluepoint used to only be a porting company and then they were given free reign to demake Demon's Souls, and then Elden Ring ended up with body types mimicking the Demon's Souls demake.

I can't emphasize strongly enough my disdain for you people who are disappointed over the quality of a remake of a game.

Are you upset that you won't be able to pay for the same game twice?

You should stop using the cuck chair at your computers.

Looks like a demo is out currently on all platforms. I think everyone should play it and see if there is any issues with the translation at all. Also something I should note, I do find it funny fans are mad that it is being more literal with the translation than using the meme speak translations or their own version of what an area or weapon is. So it might actually be good for once. I will be trying it out. I hope everyone does as well and gives feedback.

I sat down for a couple hours playing the demo on Steam. Apart from some nit-picky word choices, I didn't find anything egregious or inaccurate about the translation so far. Overall, a good first impression. (The demo really made me miss playing Trails of Cold Steel. I only ever finished the first game on PS3.)

The technical aspects suck. PH3 wasn't involved and it shows. No MSAA, the TAA implementation blows in comparison with the one from Daybreak 2, no FSR/XeSS/DLSS native AA options which are the most sensible AA options at the moment given the quality and generally low performance impact, no advanced shadow settings such as PCSS or HBAO+.

Also the visuals are way too bright. Feels like a gamma blowout's taking place nearby. UI sucks cock too.

Oh and it kinda feels a tad chinky? I don't know, when compared to the other Kiseki games there's just something about it that doesn't fit, you know? I'll just stick to the originals.

As of now, they're taking a hard stance at faithful translation from the original script. I've spotted typos and some lines can feel stiff, but enough to make XSEED fans seethe. I would expect some of Estelle's old flaired up lines gone in the full game.

However it's still too early to tell because of the Lunar thing. Still waiting on a verdict.

Unfortunately, Falcom is now censoring themselves.
That's one way to claim an "accurate translation". I'm guessing they let the localizers tell them to censor anything they would have censored in localization. Well we already knew the game would be censored months ago when they showed Nial without his trademark cigarette, just another example of how "minor" censorship usually means there is more where that came from.

Welp. If Nihon Falcom is out, then that means that the entire Japanese video game industry has gone woke. SNK has also gone woke with City of the Wolves censoring Mai's boob jiggle.

Here is more self-censoring.
The monkey's paw of companies finally stopping localization: they just censor at the source, leaving no uncensored version.

This was the downside of Operation Torrential Downpour. English versions of video games stopped having visual censorship by region, and they just went and censored the original Japanese versions, so that the Japanese version has to deal with censorship bullshit too.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a Luigi Mangione yet, but for localization instead of health insurance.

Was there not an interview awhile back that talked about changing the original script from the Japanese Version itself? I could have sworn Koji or someone else said they were trying to add in definitions or trying to make things more "cinematic" to help the pacing.

If so this must mean it's a modern day remake bait and switch all over again to cater to Modern Sensibilities to make it to a "Wider Audience" due to the budget and production values being bigger. It's the same retarded thing AAA companies are doing because they think if they make themselves look safe and non offensive they will get gigantic Blue Ocean money and think the Core Audience will not offset the cost.

While it is true a casual audience is bigger than a core audience, they do not last long and they eventually move onto something else after they make demands for censorship and things of that nature and the game then goes into negative territory, because the core audience does not play it due to the censorship and no new core audience exists, because they know it's all a lie because it's not the Authentic Japanese experience.

Without the core audience the series does not continue as they are the ones that will be consistent and buy, and will even go to buy the Deluxe Editions. They need to grow them by being what they are and not trying to lie to core audiences while trying to serve Blue Ocean audiences. It will just make everyone mad. Even worse it might drive core audiences away from the series and be harder to make any real money in the future.

I am very disappointed because it's faithful yes especially in terms but the fact they censored at the source anything they thought was offensive because they do not believe their own audience will be enough to buy is really disheartening. There is zero point in buying something if it's not made for people who wanted things as they are.

look for Indie Games especially Japanese ones at the Indie Live Expo, Hentai VN's and what little exists of the AA and AAA industry. Believe me when I say this. This whole trend is not going to last because at some point the whole thing will crash due to the Blue Ocean dying off because they are temporary audiences that never last long. Capcom is already feeling the effects of Wilds where retention is extremely low and they are planning to sunset Wilds because they know there is not enough core audiences to buy the DLC and the Blue Ocean beat the game and left. The panic will set in for the Japanese industry soon enough. We need to begin to support Indies if at all possible or smaller studios to help make more of the games we are missing.

Though I haven't seen very many indie JRPGs that lack any woke shit or censorship besides low quality deviant hentai games made with RPG Maker. Do you know of any? My lack of Japanese knowledge also really limits my options, but at least I might know what to look forward to if I ever learn the language.

Also, It would be nice if there were more PS2/PS Vita quality JRPGs released recently that weren't censored garbage. Was Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth that expensive to develop?

Well, it is not an rpg but The fox's way home by Bexide immediately comes to mind (ecchi game I played a few months ago where a fox girl dances for you have to look for "anomalies" also doubles as a benchmark).

Also there is the fact that a japanese game with ecchi or fanservice released now gets hit with the "adults only" tag to limit visibility and harm sales like the upcoming turret girls game.
Yet stuff like baldurs gate 3 just gets a simple mature rating. (Chinese gacha games seems to avoid this as well as did blue archive. but 2 things I like to stay away from are Denuvo and Kernel level anti-cheat the latter of which is what those have)

I still need to look into one of those kemco rpg's sometime and see if those are ok.
