Discussion The restrict act. Should we be worried?

So I recently heard news about this new restrict act issue going on in the US.

As far as I understand this act is a reaction to some allegations regarding tiktok and their legal obligation to turn user data to the Chinese government as such this new bill would allow government agencies, mainly the secretary of commerce, to have access to a user and app activities and content and, if they deemed it a threat to national security, to block or ban that particular service.

Most of the media seems focused on the banning tiktok part of the act. But in truth I think that it may give the US government another excuse to access and gather peoples private information and in the worst case scenario dictate on what they are and arent allowed to access.

Now Im not american, nor am I an expert in this topic so these may just be unfounded paranoia.

So what do you think should we be worried?

(I tried to add an archive link but wayback machine is broken, as soon as I can I will edit this post with a link to the article)

Yes, but this is part of a larger issue where surveillance has become normalized, by glow in the darks, corpos, everyone.

Few watching material, I don't personally like these people but the videos are informative.

For the final video, just watch the portion of the news reporting on the RESTRICT Act, skip the rest.

The problem isn't TikTok, it's that the US has such a big surveillance apparatus that singling out TikTok to be banned is hypocritical so in order to maintain that, it has to make a blanket legal framework to be able to ban anything from your private home network, VPNs and everything else which happen to include TikTok.
Snowden, Assange and many others warned us about this for decades and nothing is ever done.

Looking forward to some gooberment cunt telling me, Big Brother watching me is for my own safety.

Not to be a doomer but the US is obviously preparing for some sort of war, to me it looks like the American government takes into account a conflict with China in the near future so they want to limit the influence of the CCP as soon as possible. They expect a Russia 2.0 crisis with China attempting to snatch Taiwan.

Do you think there is something to be done about it?
Here's a blackpill for you, many things can be done but the surveillance state is too big to reign it in or even remove it, the bureaucracy will fight every step.

Are there any big players actually interested in doing anything about it?
Yes. Rand Paul is one that vocally opposed it but it's a losing battle, if you don't like your government spying on you, you're in the minority.

Skip the latter part about Trump.

A conflict with china is inevitable, no one surrounding china likes them and it's not hard to see why, the constant border expansion, the genocide, the threats and attempts of invasion that has never disappeared.

This however is just the patriot act again but worse.

One of the eternal retard sponsors lindsay graham doesn't even know what's in the fucking bill.

And some are surprised why there's a belief democracy has failed and voting is useless.
Your elected official doesn't even know what he/she is signing but signs them anyway then when garbage laws are implemented, the same retards scramble to fix it afterwards.

We should 100% be worried. I hate to be alarmist but the fact that this bill is even being seriously looked at means we have failed as a country. The president and his handlers get unrestricted control over what apps Americans get to download and using any means to get around them is 20 years in jail? People should be rioting in the streets over this.

Look I'm not saying China's never done anything wrong but that is 90% US propaganda. We're getting ready to fight them because they're a threat to our economy and hegemony, not for some noble purpose like stopping genocide or saving Taiwan. War is only "inevitable" because our side is actively trying to provoke it.

Honestly the restrict act seems pretty bad, but people are getting what they ignored for the past decade.
The Gov tells them surveillance is only meant for the bad people and they are safer with than without and they accept it.
When you tell them having anonymity is good they tell you they have nothing to hide.
When you try to help them switch they complain how inconvenient it is and return to their old ways.

All it needs are baby steps and people don't complain. It's impressive that the US hasn't done that with guns yet.

Enough of the population supported the patriot act, why wouldn't those same retards support this?
And like Ben Franklin said these people deserve neither liberty or safety.
