Now before we all start to panic Im gonna give you my interpretation

First of all the interviewer is a game journo so that should give you a clue about the way he wants to paint kishida's arguments

What I think he said is that he wants to see ans try different approaches to character design

And finally the japanese twitter account for the melico mention that there still be fanservice but theyve be trying something different.

Now the worrying part for me are this the misconception some japanese companies and artists have that most people in the west think the way that idiot does.
Im not against artist trying to vary stuff up but not if its under a falsw belief or under pressure from others.

What do you think?

I will this copy paste my response from here.

OMG, I actually had to read this shit in order to respond properly.
:uni_scare:

From what I gather, he may have been slowly influenced by Western. It's hard to know if the interviewer (aka the retard who wrote this crap) was putting too much focus on the sexualization of the characters and he didn't want to blow the interview, or if he truly believes that. The former is very likely, but if the latter is true he is a HUGE hypocrite. His Atelier designs are SUPER fan-service-y. I didn't (yet) play the first Blue Reflection (it's sitting in my Steam library
:dead_inside:
), but from what I have read so far one of the major contributing factors to even existing a second game is because the designs (HIS designs) of the characters are GORGEOUS.

I hope this what just the delusion of the interviewer putting words in his head, but in this day and age, nothing is impossible.

As for the interviewer whatever-self, I just leave this image. That sums it up.

Yeah I probably should ve put up a warning to read at the risk of losing neurons :cirno-laugh:

I want to be optimistic and say he was just saying platitudes.
The problem with a lot of japanese devs and artists and this is really more of a cultural problem. They go to great lengths to avoid coming of as confrontational at least thats what I noticed which ends up with shit like this or that blood drive nonsense from some years ago

it is very likely that he did not want a confrontation with them, so do not give them any reason to speak ill of him and the game.

the only thing that really worries me is when he says that they are working on not putting so much fanservice and work more on other attractive aspects of the girls, I wonder if this means that they really have plans to reduce little by little the fanservice of the franchise.
although in the end he's only the character designer doesn't determine much.

Yeah that worries me too I guess theres really no way to tell until we see more of the upcoming gamestho if its true it will be to their detriment. The core fanbase of this games, afaik, (I have not played them myself) is weebs who are into fan servicey games

I think what people need to realize is that Japan isn't the land of based & cunny.
because japan like any county, like any society, can change & will change and can be affected & will be affected by outside sources.

could this be because of censorship, SJW, or whatever the fuck type doing maybe or this could also be a reflection of possible trends that are developing in real-time with upcoming or current content creators? we don't really know because we don't have anyone on the ground we only have an outsider looking in view, so I wouldn't jump the gun yet.
just wait & see.

Catching a bad case of the moralfag seems to be something many people are prone to doing nowadays; which is a shame, Kishida Mel was always a master of soft, erotic undertones and by the way he's talking he's willing to toss all of that away because of whatever brainrot has afflicted him. As an aside, I can't think of any aspect of Otaku culture that hasn't either been bastardized or sanded down to a nub, a lot of it just seems so... bland.

Yeah Thats the truth. I think the best we can do is, as japan anon says is support those artists and developers that, for lack of a better word are more reasonable.

I can see what you mean tho I argue theres still some good stuff, its just little harder to find.
As for kishida well everyone changes so theres the chance he changes back,:anime-think:. Anyways just as much as he is free to change his work, we are free to decide wheter we still want to support it,

Great artist or not he is still only one, and I know there are plenty of artists that like fanservice and could use the support.

There's no more real "otaku culture" anyway, you can't even get any type of cameltoes even in shit like Strike Witches.
im just gonna put this here. japan anon asked for clarification (A)

Boycott the shit out of retards that "willingly" change their art styles because of "changing trends". One side has an argument, the other thinks they're the opposite sex for crying out loud.

"B-but the artist said he's doing it w-willingly!", yeah, sure, self-censorship never happens am I right? Even so, boycott the fuck out of him even if he's a "victim" or not, there's no point in supporting someone that sides with retardation.
