idk a thread to talk about everyone's favorite silver and red (or blue) aliens.

I'll go first, Orb is the best New Gen Ultra and anyone who says otherwise can eat pizza without sauce

Edit: If anyone wanders into this thread and wonders what Ultraman is.

Orb is best New Generation, Ginga is pretty bad.

but I don't mind all of them have ultras beating fight monsters and that's all I need.

Well if anyone happens to find this thread, what's your opinion on the the Ultraman anime? I personally don't really care for it, me want big red man beating the shit out of monsters and aliens and other big things.

Geed was the first series I finished, and it was the best. Riku's journey of becoming an Ultraman and becoming a hero was great, and the plot of being born from Belial intrigued me, and was easy for me to get into because it was familiar to Kamen Rider's (and all other Ishinomori works') Cross of Fire concept of good being birthed from evil.
Geed was unique compared to the other Ultraman I've seen, and honestly, the most thrilling and more likable, relatable, and action-packed with godly music.

Z was the next, and it was bland.

I've never watched Orb before, but honestly, I feel like Ultraman is one of those series that feels hard to get into, since even in Trigger, I kinda felt like there was some prerequisite knowledge I needed to know about in order to fully understand what was going on.

Geed didn't really have that problem for me, and I can't tell if it's just how I'm going about consuming the media or just a problem with the writing of other series.

So yeah. I'm a Geed simp.

Actually most Ultraman series are pretty self contained or loosely connected. Though the newer stuff is more connected, the only prerequisite knowledge you really need to know is usually explained in within series). You'll do fine going into Ultraman Orb blind, Ultraman Trigger is unique in that is more directly connected to Ultraman Tiga for it's 25th anniversary, but it takes place in a different universe to Tiga.

I enjoyed Ultraman Z but I do understand why people may not care for it, I just like seeing the robots and aliens getting beat up by Ultraman and the STORAGE robots.

Ultraman Geed is definitely one of the better series out of the New Generation Series group (Everything starting from Ultraman Ginga in 2013) though all of them suffer from gimmicky transformation items. Definitely check out the older series if you have the time, they are generally better than the newer stuff and don't constantly try to sell toys or past Ultras.

Based Ultraman will refuse to change for Hollywood and keep it's Japanese identity in the face of globehomo.
“There are a number of cultural standards in the West, especially in Hollywood.

[….]

From a Western perspective, most of the world’s popular Japanese characters are already being made into films by Hollywood major studios and global media groups. However, Ultraman is not one of them.

Ultraman may be the last big IP left in Japan. We have received many offers from overseas companies, but if we do the same thing in Hollywood when we go out into the world, Ultraman will be buried among the many hero characters. In order to compete on the world stage, we need to make use of Japan’s identity and Japaneseness as a strong point in our stories.

This is the way I want to present the Ultraman brand. This will lead to the creation of powerful works on a different level.”
