Recently there was some buzz over a GoNintendo Article claiming that in a recent interview, the producer for
the upcoming Atelier Ryza 3 game will be toning down its fanservice to reach a more global audience.

Many fans were initially outraged and called out the producer and company for going woke.
However as it turns out that may not be the case, as pointed out in several tweets, debunking
the article's claims.

(Link to original interview)
https://www.4gamer.net/games/654/G065485/20221214065/

It seems the original author of the article lied about the intentions of the director and his team,
But then again, what can you expect from a gut who admits to hating fanservice,
clearly, dude clearly has a bias.

What are some more examples of Video Games journalists bullshitting/manipulating
news stories & interviews for their own agenda?

I fail to see the debunking. The full question is saying the same thing as the headline.

Also that 4gamer article is a completely different interview from last year. This is an interview with Nintendo Life, so unfortunately there is no way to verify the veracity of their translation.

The question is worded really vaguely I had to read twice to understand, and the answer is incredibly broad he basically said "We are gonna do what the fans want". So idk

It doesn't seem that vague to me.
Q: Was it a conscious decision to move from fan service to RPGs for a wider audience?
A: Yes

Sure it's a bad question, but it's also a bad answer.

Going by the real interview and not the questionable translation. Those character sketches show Ryza just getting fatter in all the right places, the other female characters having similar design choices (either being cute and funny or having thigh bulge). I also remember these same devs having a similar thing back when the first game was coming out and then we got characters like this:

Or got swimsuit dlc like this: (from the second game)

I'm just going to wait until after release and see what we get. All of these western game urinalists have done shit like reword what Japanese devs have said or even outright lied about what they said because they have zero respect for Japan's game scene as a whole.

I saw this image on the interwebs. Considering that Gust also day-1 censored the Fairy Tail game, I wouldn't be surprised if this was true, but of course... confirmation is required. I actually have not played any Atelier games, let alone the Ryza games, but... since I didn't see anyone mention it, I figured I'd drop it here. Guess we'll have to wait to see.

The previous Ryza game was censored as well. Prior games in the series let you see pantsu so they are definitely toning it down.

Do you know if the censorship was on all versions or only the western release?

It has been a decade since the original game, so it's entirely possible that the CERO rating system has changed so that underwear exposure is now considered 17+ rating. This doesn't feel like them actually pulling away from fanservice, and more like a response to something. If they were actually pulling away from it, they wouldn't have made Ryza's thighs thicker and would have covered her up completely. They also wouldn't sell swimsuit dlcs.

Edit: Oh man, look at all this fanservice they removed, she's basically a muslim now.

Her thighs are wider than her head.

No it's not. Please don't make excuses for censorship. CERO is only strict on actual nudity, not fanservice.

Sen no Kiseki 4, rated CERO C just like Ryza 3:

And even if they did say you can't have that with a C rating, they should have just bumped it up to D instead of adding black voids.

And they don't wait to be a D rating, get over it. What it actually looks like is that they just want to monetize the fanservice.

There's also a simple solution here: Don't purchase their games anymore.

Don't forget how Twitter loves to downplay censorship by calling anyone complaining a creepy pedo.
yet twitter itself is full of real pedos with actual cp on it and atiler ryza is all legal cause its purely fiction twitter never ceases to amaze, in its stupidity from its puritanical streak
