Hi there! Welcome to the forums, and thank you for sharing a bit about your v-tuber!Yoooo'! What's poppin'?!
While I'm on this topic, do not use having a bad computer as an excuse not to create content. I'm not saying you are or will do that, but this is something so many pre-debut v-tubers do. It is a completely invalid excuse when there are wholesome as fuck v-tubers who use their own rigged MS Paint-style avatar streaming in a quiet room where you either hear them whispering or their potato PC fans going wild. Perhaps you can't stream with the model and rig you want, but you can still stream. If you have to just slap a PNG of Yeefi on there and narrate, then do it.I'm currently saving up for my dream rig. I've done some facerig testing and it works GREAT... when not streaming. My computer lacks any inside cooling functions outside of old fans, the cpu/graphics card are old and almost entirely outdated. So it may be a little while till I officially vtube.
If you are a writer, I recommend you check out the Literature sub-forum here and perhaps make a thread for yourself and your work. @Beginner and I are mostly the two active there, so we're always looking for other writers to chip in or just hang around, offering support or advice when applicable.I'm also a writer, but that's not really all that important to my vtubing career.
Haha! No sporks, please. ^-I'll be honest, your post concerned me at first, and I wasn't sure where it was going to go. I was about ready to raise my spork and let you know this town ain't big enough for two penguins of d00m, but I get that you're just roleplaying your character. Friendly advice: perhaps don't lie this all on so thick, at least not at first. That aside, I do like the fun, energetic, arguably childish personality of the character, and it's something I could imagine would be very fun to experience during a stream if you can perform it well. I'm also getting mesugaki vibes, but that may be the late hours talking for me...
Oh, the personalities aren't that extremely different. They just go from tsundere to more.... ehehe... Affectionate. Since I'm Indy, I can be my own person and make my own decisions, one of which is definitely promoting a lewder nature to the character on her adult looking forms (on websites that permit it only). Although artistically, I promote all as long as it harms no one. She was originally meant to be a succubus/mouse, but I realized there's a lack of real monster girls. I probably could have went with Arachnid, but a close friend sold me on lamia/Echidna [the dungeon snake monsters that use minions to weed out horrible mates.] Though when I get these forms over time, I already have it planned on their themes. That being said, be sure not to go overboard, yeah? Quality over quantity should be the main goal. Having to juggle what looks to be four different personalities may be a bit much in addition to the "core" Yeefi that you have to maintain during all stages.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I've been doing stuff, and until I -can- get my rig already plan on drawing my PNG stills for stuff. Also my artist is a little overwhelmed with commissions so I have to wait anyways for that part to even be able to start rigging, but until I rig the art, I'm just going to use chibi stills I make for twitch and youtube videos. You certainly have potential, but you must understand that it is only potential. You must actually act upon it and put out content if you ever want any chance at success. Please do not place yourself among the already overly saturated pool of pre-debut "v-tubers" who spend more time talking about their aspirations (or bitching on Twitter) rather than putting their nose to the grindstone and making a name for themselves. You have to understand that not only are you competing with other indie v-tubers but you're also competing with the professionals at hololive, Nijisani, Vshojo, etc. You need to give people a reason why they should spend a selection of their day watching you and not somebody else. You have a good foundation for it, but that means nothing if it's not actionable. Fantasy stays fantasy if it's not made reality.

I wouldn't worry about that too much. I use ibuypower where they make a prebuilt computer of your own choosing/from their options. I got an estimate on what I'm looking at, and while I am sure there are stronger/better/faster PCs out there, the upgrade I'm saving for is already 200x> better than what I am working with. I know some people say you shouldn't get prebuilt because it can get destroyed in delivery, but I haven't had one incident like that yet from them. Luckily.Again, you don't need a dream rig to stream successfully. As someone who has the money for one, it's not remotely feasible right now as we are still undergoing a silicon crisis that is affecting many different industries. Do not expect anytime soon for the high end cards to be widely available unless you're voraciously looking for them online and in stores nearby at all times. My suggestion to you would be to either work with what you have by shoring up any deficiencies stopping you from doing the bare minimum content-wise or trying to build a machine with older yet quality parts. I know there's no easy solution to either, but this is the time you've chosen to get into v-tubing and you have to work with it.
I can do that. :> Just going to have to jog my memory of how forums work. (I haven't seriously been on one since gaiaonline. Frick...) *There. Got it done. I think...Anyway, I recommend that you edit your post and profile direct links to each of your social medias rather than just say they exist. The same is probably a good idea for the artist you have credited. I looked you up myself, but that may not fly for others. The less work you put on others to involve themselves in your pursuit, the better it will be.
Ooo.... Might actually have to give that a peep. I like reading what others do. (Much like watching another artist draw causing me to itch to draw, it can kind of spark me to just write more. So that's fun.)If you are a writer, I recommend you check out the Literature sub-forum here and perhaps make a thread for yourself and your work. @Beginner and I are mostly the two active there, so we're always looking for other writers to chip in or just hang around, offering support or advice when applicable.
These are all true. Didn't quite consider that much. Well, if my creativity ever gets known enough that someone can gain help from it, I'm glad. Also, you should think it matters to your v-tubing career, because having lore behind your character can not only be a draw but also help contribute ideas for content down the road (which itself helps with retention). Granted, it wont matter as much as your personality, but it's something you should consider as a creator.
Well, it's very good energy! Very professional... but again aha... please no spork! I can't even taste good. (And I don't even know what a penguin of doom is. I am just some random artist monkey who likes this website, its topics, and people from what I've seen.)Anyway, that's all the energy I've got in my tank for now. If you are genuine in your wishes here and have the capacity to put forth the work required, I would very much like to see you succeed.
It's all good. I always have to be a bit wary when I see posts like that though just to ensure that people aren't trying to troll.Haha! No sporks, please. ^-
Yeah, going with the character intro can be a little... cringe, but figured it can't hurt. As for talking hours.. hey. I love vtubers, and all that stuff. I might actually like hearing about it.
Oh, the personalities aren't that extremely different. They just go from tsundere to more.... ehehe... Affectionate. You basically keep getting me excited for these later forms, you absolute tease! I am beyond ready for the dommy mommy. The final form is similar to the milf, just more assertive like a hellhound character. If I ever get to that point. [Dreaming big mode.]
I really would have liked a succubus design since they are not nearly as common as I would have hoped they'd be, but yeah as you put it there's also no harm in going harder on the very underappreciated and underrepresented monster girl niche. I think using a lamia as well is also fairly conducive to the whole "evolving" design you're going for so I think you're off to a good start conceptually! She was originally meant to be a succubus/mouse, but I realized there's a lack of real monster girls. I probably could have went with Arachnid, but a close friend sold me on lamia/Echidna [the dungeon snake monsters that use minions to weed out horrible mates.] Though when I get these forms over time, I already have it planned on there themes.
So, this is an interesting decision. This one currently shown, her favorite games would be FPS/Aggressive PVP/Zombie killing. She wants to destroy everything... with affection(maybe.) The Onee-san type is more flirty/cutesy, shy but friendly with a theme of cutesy games like Minecraft/Sims- very campy, and Milf is full on Ara-Ara/Headpats and focuses on MMORPGs like WoW/FFXIV, or adult games on Plexstorm.
Absolutely! That's good to hear. I just feel obligated to offer this warning to any promising v-tuber because the failure rate is tremendously high. Some of the wording you had used in your original post had given me cause for concern, so I just wanted to reiterate the truth that so many upstarts, whether they be naive or apahetic, tend to disregard.Oh, don't get me wrong.
So, yeah. Be careful with iBUYPOWER. I don't recall exactly how good or bad their support is but I know their prebuilts. I'm not sure how tech savvy you are, but here is a quality review of one of their most recent pre-builts which featured quite a few noteworthy failures in addition to being overpriced. These quality controls are completely inexcusable, showing gross negligence at best and malicious intent (to dupe unsuspecting buyers) at worse. Maybe their other offerings are better, and this might have been a rare case in particular, but so many companies right now are doing their best to take advantage of the desperation of people who need anything from new parts to new rigs.I wouldn't worry about that too much. I use ibuypower where they make a prebuilt computer of your own choosing/from their options. I got an estimate on what I'm looking at, and while I am sure there are stronger/better/faster PCs out there, the upgrade I'm saving for is already 200x> better than what I am working with. You're doing pretty well in that case. You've already got the concept of splintering quotes down, so I'd say you're off to a good start on your return.I can do that. :> I just going to have to jog my memory of how forums work. (I haven't seriously been on one since gaiaonline. Frick...) *There. Got it done. I think...
I made a tongue-in-cheek reference to a famous copypasta that goes as follows:please no spork! I can't even taste good. (And I don't even know what a penguin of doom is.
I think it would be fine if you made your own thread, honestly. Can't speak for @DarkMahesvara but I interpret this post more as an explicit introduction thread where you more or less provide an elevator pitch and/or mission statement.I may update my post randomly later should I ever get more content that I think fits for that post. Like if I ever reach my bench marks enough to have the next (SFW)form made... Haha... Pfft. We'll see!
Considering this is going to be yet another night in a string of many lately where I've stayed up nearly until sunrise, I'm not sure it'll be that great, but I appreciate the well-wishes all the same! I'd much rather be up chatting or watching my videos anyway.I hope you sleep well!
yeah i think if you plan to post more about yourself here making a dedicated thread would be a good idea.I think it would be fine if you made your own thread, honestly. Can't speak for @DarkMahesvara but I interpret this post more as an explicit introduction thread where you more or less provide an elevator pitch and/or mission statement.
Aww... Well, I'm happy to compare notes back and forth. If you have twitter, my DMs are always open. It's the best way to contact me when I'm awake. Not that contacting me asleep works well... ....I am very interested into and relatively learned about v-tubers, so I try to keep on top of any new or interested additions to the sub-forum (assuming I'm not the one to create content myself). @DarkMahesvara is the other one most educated in this field. I had hoped there would be more interested in v-tubers on this forum since I joined, especially considering the circumstances of why I joined in the first place, but sadly there hasn't been much content provided beyond the two of us. So with that in mind, I'm more than willing to take advantage of an opportunity to not only help someone out potentially but also incite further activity on this site of the board!
You basically keep getting me excited for these later forms, you absolute tease! I am beyond ready for the dommy mommy.
I like some of them, but as you can bet.. highly disappointed with Nyanners. ;-; (And annoyed she said what she has about her fandom only to continue with that higher pitched voice.)Really though, as someone that fights against censorship and prudishness whenever possible, I always appreciate more lewd stuff. It was one of the reasons I found myself so disappointed with Vshojo since, while they got the lewdness down, most (not all) of the individual personalities range from fairly boring at best and offensively annoying at worst.
Well, luckily, I have some babysitting experience so I know how to tone it down pretty quickly to be family friendly, and yeah.. for Twitch/Youtube I'll have to be sure to use the tame models, but that's fine. Just won't stop me from liking and retweeting any hentai of my character if it gets to that point. Or posting my own art work. It's a shame you'll probably have to tone down whatever you may have in mind for Yeefi's design on official streams since both YouTube or Twitch seem to not like fictional characters going overboard. That of course wont stop the latter from exerting double standards as far as 3DPD thottery goes, though.
My succuby design was getting a little too complicated. Succubus with mouse ears.. [My old HS name used to be Mouse so it's kind of a personal thing], snake tail... I decided to simplify it down. Though the final form could be anything(snake tailed.)I really would have liked a succubus design since they are not nearly as common as I would have hoped they'd be, but yeah as you put it there's also no harm in going harder on the very underappreciated and underrepresented monster girl niche. I think using a lamia as well is also fairly conducive to the whole "evolving" design you're going for so I think you're off to a good start conceptually!
You are correct! I am keeping the forms so that people can have more options to what they tune into. Some people might not like the flirty forms, and be more keen to the playful mutually bratty punk more than the others, or vice versa. Originally I meant for her to be smaller, and even more chibi/angry/aggressive looking to kind of symbolize that she's smaller-- and pretty volatile while storing power. She may gain her forms, but they're hard to maintain all the time, so she has to shrink back to keep them maintained. The more powerful, the more close to a lust daemon she becomes. When trying to just re-soak like a little sponge, the more withdrawn from mushy stuff she is. (I like aggressive/volatile small characters.)So, this is an interesting decision.
To be clear, as you mentioned the evolutions were more or less "milestones", will you permanently assume that form and "retire" the previous ones, or do you simply add a new costume to your repertoire? I will assume you're going for the latter, in which case the sheer diversity afforded by doing so (in addition to separating when you use which form depending on which type of game) is an excellent idea that, again, I find both novel and creative. If executed well, you're practically giving people more bang for their buck by offering multiple characters in one, even if the personalities do not differ that much as you say. I also appreciate how you are more or less linking their interests to the sort of characters they would be.
Agreed. Might as well just do it (what you can do). If I waited till I got my first song done it might be a whole year till I stream again and as a streamer.. that's just not good for my mental health anyways.Absolutely! That's good to hear. I just feel obligated to offer this warning to any promising v-tuber because the failure rate is tremendously high. Some of the wording you had used in your original post had given me cause for concern, so I just wanted to reiterate the truth that so many upstarts, whether they be naive or apahetic, tend to disregard.
I also understand about the artist being busy right now as well as the fact rigging is expensive and takes awhile itself. It's okay. There's no need to rush. Just keep on doing what you're doing, which hopefully includes planning for the future while also making content. The latter is going to serve not only as self-advertisement but practice for what's to come. Anyone can stream, but performing successfully is a skill that takes refinement. I think you're aware of this, so be sure to keep at it and do your best.
Oh, yeah, there's definitely a risk. On the bright side it looks like it still worked very well and -close- to what it was expected. Even that is better than what I have. I'm not quite computer savvy yet, but my long-distance bf is. While I could say maybe he'll help/make sure things get adjusted in a, 'hopeful,' thought, I try not to think like that. My current computer may have 3-4 months tops left in it, (that's how bad it is). Instead of relying my new rig to be 100% perfect, or someone else... I plan on studying computers in the process. Maybe put together a back-up slowly with practice. [So those links you sent me may be a big help, even if not so immediately!]So, yeah. Be careful with iBUYPOWER. I don't recall exactly how good or bad their support is but I know their prebuilts. I'm not sure how tech savvy you are, but here is a quality review of one of their most recent pre-builts which featured quite a few noteworthy failures in addition to being overpriced. Maybe their other offerings are better, and this might have been a rare case in particular, but so many companies right now are doing their best to take advantage of the desperation of people who need anything from new parts to new rigs.
That all being said, desperate times do indeed call for desperate measures. There's a reason so many are trying to by pre-builts just to flip it for the parts (namely the GPUs and/or CPUs). as Unfortunate as it may be, a pre-built probably is your best bet for the time being if you don't want to hunt for parts. Not sure what your budget is but the same reviewers recently looked at a pre-built that was actually quite decent, so I would advise shopping around beyond just iBUYPOWER. A good machine is something you really want to invest good time and money in upfront so you avoid the hassle of upgrading or potentially dealing with issues later on. Just understand that if you choose to go with most pre-builts, especially right now during this awkward market, you are doing so at a considerable loss of value for price paid.
Funny enough, gaia is a pretty good spot to yoink fashion ideas when drawing. So I do sometimes sneak over there when I am having an artist block. (Speaking of, I may be looking to make a, 'sketchbook,' thread on this website so people can watch my progress. Both sketches, finishes, and videos of the progress.)You're doing pretty well in that case. You've already got the concept of splintering quotes down, so I'd say you're off to a good start on your return.
Also, hot damn. How could you remind me of Gaia Online like that?! I'm amazed to see after just now checking that it even still exists.
Ah.... Yeah. The good old, 'My Immortal,' fanfic type of jokes. I remember that. Love the hairstyles back then, loathed the weird deviantart die-preps furry groups.I made a tongue-in-cheek reference to a famous copypasta that goes as follows:
hi every1 im new!!!!!!! holds up spork my name is katy but u can call me t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m!!!!!!!! lol...as u can see im very random!!!! thats why i came here, 2 meet random ppl like me ^^... im 13 years old (im mature 4 my age tho!!) i like 2 watch invader zim w/ my girlfreind (im bi if u dont like it deal w/it) its our favorite tv show!!! bcuz its SOOOO random!!!! shes random 2 of course but i want 2 meet more random ppl =) like they say the more the merrier!!!! lol...neways i hope 2 make alot of freinds here so give me lots of commentses!!!! DOOOOOMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <--- me bein random again ^^ hehe...toodles!!!!! love and waffles, t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m
As you can probably tell, it is intended to lampoon the sort of "lol so random xD" characters which I had initially thought you were attempting to emulate.
I think it would be fine if you made your own thread, honestly. Can't speak for @DarkMahesvara but I interpret this post more as an explicit introduction thread where you more or less provide an elevator pitch and/or mission statement.
Oh... That could definitely be fun to work with.Design looks really cute and (surprisingly) the first lamia vtuber i have seen. Good luck!
yeah i think if you plan to post more about yourself here making a dedicated thread would be a good idea.
I know that feeling. I only have two hours to get rest before I have to wake up for something. Then maybe a nap after if I don't itch to do something. Again, feel free to contact me on anything you wanna chat about. I'm kind of an open book.Considering this is going to be yet another night in a string of many lately where I've stayed up nearly until sunrise, I'm not sure it'll be that great, but I appreciate the well-wishes all the same! I'd much rather be up chatting or watching my videos anyway.
but my childish/punky way of speaking may cause cancer
!!! That is super high praise coming from you. Thank you, bro! As for responses, no need to worry about rushing still. I might accidentally be slow to respond too so I'd rather not be hypocritcal about that.
Anyway, @Yeefi welcome to the forum, and as I said before you can count with my help to boost you, don't feel bad about directly asking me "please can you share this" it doesn't bother me and otherwise I will probably miss it, I don't use twitter as much as it seems.
You have a cool voice, the avatar is cute and unique enough to distinguish yourself from the rest, so you have a lot of potential.
You have a very solid point. I think I'll do something like that.My small piece of advice:
A few VTubers I shilled in the past failed for a simple reason, they are not entertaining to watch, worry about that, a lot.
I'm not saying you should put "Predebut VTuber" in your name or anything, but just by looking at your twitter it's pretty much impossible to know you are going to become one.
Luckily I don't personally post loli works on there, but I imagine twitch/youtube could try to look at even the retweets and be like: Well! You've grown too big but we can't have you representing us! Goodbye! So maybe I might clean up some of my retweets. (But they can't make me undo likes, those monsters...)Be careful about posting loli nsfw, either on twitter or youtube. Even slight ecchi can get you suspended. A rat(or mouse) loli VTuber decided to ignore my warnings and her account got suspended as a result.
Both twitch and youtube are hostile towards anime style lewdness in general, as you might know because of dimitri, be careful about hat too.
One thing you can do is also just don't get involved in drama, which is another thing pre-debut "v-tweeters" tend to do. Twitch and YouTube, at least to my knowledge, don't actively search out lewd channels and nuke them for sport, but rather they will respond (either manually or automatically) to reports put forth by bad actors who want to see you fail.Well, luckily, I have some babysitting experience so I know how to tone it down pretty quickly to be family friendly, and yeah.. for Twitch/Youtube I'll have to be sure to use the tame models, but that's fine. It may be "small", but it is arguably one of the most important things to consider as a content creator but especially a v-tuber. You can have the nicest looking stream with the highest quality rigging, but none of that really matters (at least in terms of retention) if the entertainment factor is not there.A few VTubers I shilled in the past failed for a simple reason, they are not entertaining to watch, worry about that, a lot.

If you literally just never use your social media to speak negatively towards or another another v-tuber or group of them, even if they're the first ones to attack you, then you're putting yourself in a much better position than most realize. Don't attract negative attention and you're likely to get away with a little bit more.
Of course, it's always fine to veer on the side of caution, so you do you. Just try to find that sweet spot to where you aren't restricting yourself to the point of working against the character just to appease this cringe culture of "anime tiddie bad".
Aye. That's one thing you learn about being an artist. Make as many associates as you can. Not just to shill each other, but you can learn quite a bit from each other if you actually talk. (Even with language barriers. There's usually a way to translate.) Only downside is when a website dies, or you have to move on from it(gaiaonline/DA) you kind of have to rebuild again. Also, if you are an artist, you should post your work here in the Art sub-forum. I think there's a good chance it will be welcome here. As for sharing art in general, I think that's a great idea. It's always a good idea to boost others, and real tends to recognize real.
Haha. Yeah. I LOVE her design, and her personality, but the voice did throw me off. I've been in chorus for a long time, so I'm usually extremely picky, though.. For example Calliope really threw me off as well for something that looked very girly/ara-ara-ish, but coming out with a gruff, 'Guh,' voice. Guh describes it very well... That's the exact sound I make when accidentally going into that kind of voice when dehydrated... Though, I like her playful coy personality. Her tomboy look fits her best.. :>It may be "small", but it is arguably one of the most important things to consider as a content creator but especially a v-tuber. I think an excellent example of a v-tuber with an amazing design, great set-up, and pretty graphics is Kyuotto. This might be an unpopular opinion here, but I never could get into her content because she was always so sleepy, and the voice just did not match the model. I think she's gotten better since her early days, but it's still not enough to keep me watching, even if everything else is stellar.
Considering you're going to be keeping up a character with a lot of energy, you need to be able to match that energy and throughout the entire stream. If you have to start by having short streams, then so be it, but stay consistent and consistently entertaining.
Absolutely will! Just sorting my art out at the moment, (been planning a video-- now two videos on topics I find interesting, but the second can wait...) and my twitter as well as moving my NSFW side to an alt.
Anyway, I think I've taken up enough space here in the thread, and I don't want to take any further attention away from you. When you feel comfortable, do make a thread for yourself so things can be better focused upon you and you alone there.
As I've said before, you've got a lot of promise here. Your ideas, your creativity, and your motivation are ingredients to success many others cannot claim they have. There's no guarantees, especially given the "luck" factor everyone needs as far as going viral goes, but a strong foundation can be achieved with the proper work. Please do pull this off if you can, because everything from your character concept to how you plan to approach streams and implement variety in content and performance has definitely got me hooked.
I want indie v-tubers such as yourself to succeed. I can't speak for JP, but the EN indie scene is very much plagued right know with the aforementioned v-tweeters or v-tubers who just can't hold my (or most people's) attention. It takes a lot of work to compete with the best available right now, so that's why I'm willing to offer whatever thoughts and support I can. It's good on you to reach out as well and be willing to listen to others. Beatani was a fresh indie when she dropped onto /vt/ a couple months ago, and I was one of the first of many others to catch on to what she was trying to do and help her branch out. Now, I'd say she's doing fairly well for herself.
Disclaimer: I am not advising you go to /vt/ since that was a very risky move, but it's possible you could find some good souls there willing to help. You just have to be careful what sort of crowds you draw.
Anyway,If I have anything more to add, I'll either reply when appropriate or send you a DM here. I'm rooting for you!
Oh they post about everything to do with v-tubers it would be nice if they knew there was a difference between the Vtuber board and the /jp/ board./vt/? Is that the board where we see people posting about the color of vtuber's......
I may need someone to tell me how to navigate around there. If it is that place.. kinda scary. Aaaha.
OH! Dms here are okay too. I can send you my discord name, though, I am already in Edgeland(Yeefi). Would be happy for an add if you'd like.

Hello im rae the dragon! i'm the founder of the soon to open Vtuber agency DragonLive. I think what makes me special is my ability to memorize all users in chat and address them by preffered name even if they dissapear for a while, recently i found a lack of caring for small content creators from Vtuber agencies so i decided i would start my own so we are calling it DragonLive!{life story complete XD}You are a vTuber and want to make it big? This totally relevant forum might be what you have been missing.
Tell us about yourself and what makes you special.
waitttt theres another dragon live!? ;-; man i gotta change the agency name XDDebi-sama is the real pioneer.
They made me realize that VTubing is something a dragon can do too.
