I guess it depends what you mean by generic a lot of marvel characters (the movies that is) feel pretty generic to me. Then again most of the MCU feels pretty generic to me

I don't have really a specific character, but every token character is usually extremely generic. In general everything that is meant to be "non-offensive" is usually leading to it becoming generic.

you can't get more generic than a character whos name translates to "childhood friend" and who acts like a childhood friend...

Pretty much 98% of the Harem protagonists I've seen. The only Harem protagonist that I ever loved was Arata from Trinity Seven. Simply because he wasn't the typical awkward incel type. He had some serious fiesty.

Tatsumi from Akame Ga Kill. He had nothing going on, not a single attribute of his is worth even talking about because frankly I can't think of anything about him that stands out from a lot of run of the mill shonen protagonists, despite being a seinin. The idea that Esdeath was in love with him is absolute nonsense.
