Hadn't really seen much talk of it here, but fuck it i may as well make a thread about it right about now.

Been into the games since i left college heard about it through angryjoe through his review back in the day of how shitty the reboot was lol and since then avoided it like the plague.

I love the combat first of all and the story, lets all be real here capcom games have the most dogshit stories with the most dogshit writing in it imaginable and the voice acting too equally cheesy looking at you resident evil but that said you can't deny the charm and memes we got over the years from them.

The music too is really good and the art and combat really holds up and has aged especially well to this day.

That being said what do you think about the series? let me know down in the comments.

Honestly. Devil May Cry is like an over the top action movie. You're not coming for the deep, philosophical story. You're coming to eat popcorn while a dude hacks demons apart.

I haven't played 5 yet, but my opinion on the games:
- 1: Rough but good. It still had some BS sprinkled in from being originally an RE (iirc) game. E.g. the camera
- 2: No idea what they were thinking. The game was really short, the graphics felt worse than 1 and it's the black sheep imo.
- 3: A fantastic game from start to finish. Everything is solid and I had no complaints. If there is one in the series I recommend it would be this one
- 4: This was my introduction to the series. Nero was a nice addition and I liked it, but can see others not liking it as much.
- DmC: The gameplay was solid and the art style could've worked really well, but story and character wise it was a disaster. E.g. The wig in the beginning when Dante says something like "never in a million years". This kind of symbolized from the get go, that the studio wants to make their own game instead of an actual dmc prequel/reboot. It feels like they just wanted the brand recognition.
- 5: Didn't play.
- Anime: It was fine. Especially for being based on a game. It's not "The best action anime ever made ™", but it can stand on it's own two feet.

I think there was also a manga and a rumor for a new netflix anime, but I'm not sure about that.

That netflix rumor turned out to be true and there were books on the series i've read them and even got a physical copy of one of the dmc books from a pawn shop ages ago

Also on the note of the o.g anime its mid then again madhouse on the 2000s were their own worst enemy at the time and mappa ended up repeating history decades later since they lieterally became a madhouse lol
