Final Fantasy's Naoki Yoshida gives based response to IGN's diversity question. Twitter is enraged.

While Square Enix as a company devolves further and further into pandering to leftist agendas with games like Harvestella, Twitter is busy crying their eyes out over comments made by producer Naoki Yoshida (YoshiP) and his stance on adding 'diversity' to Final Fantasy XVI. He explains in great detail how the particular world they crafted is based on medieval European culture and all its particulars, and is why there are no 'diverse peoples' to be seen.

Hm. You could be right and I still will never support Squenix again, fuck them. (Fuck niggers too.)

However, I think moments like these are absolutely still worth noting. I still believe in a future where the woke shit will have mostly died down and Japan’s entertainment industry will be relatively the same, so stuff like this reminds me to stop being so pessimistic. And that the larger majority of JP still does not give a fuck despite what a few greedy studios say.

I don't think YoshiP is pretending, that's the thing. It would've been so much easier for him to tow the industry line and espouse the virtues of wokeness (his colleagues certainly do [re: Harvestella]). Instead, he gave an answer that was very clearly thought out all the way through, fully aware that it wouldn't go down well with leftists. If you know anything about his work on FFXIV, you'll know that he speaks honestly about pretty much everything, even if it offends his superiors. You almost never see guys like him from Japan.

It doesn't take a majority to change things, when the minority is pushing things proactively. The woke agenda is being pushed by universities and isn't something people came to figure out on their own. Overseas people in Japan are pushing this crap through their employer.

Well sure, it's easy to be cynical about this whole thing. But I don't think Squeenix feels very inclined toward appealing to us as gamers because - like you mention - the localizations are so woke now that it beggars belief.

I think people are sometimes too optimistic when a dev or industry insider says something based, but in actuality it really has zero substance. Money is all the industry cares about, and as long as the mentally ill folks keep calling the shots, nothing will ever change. Square Enix already admitted they are looking towards the global market to make so-called profit.

Japanese have shown they care little about diversity and more about what brings quality to the table. Not to mention their general dislike for Joggers because of most likely cultural reasons.
