Discussion Forum wide social credit system

It seems that a sort of point system is implemented in this forum. Thankfully it's not as atrocious as Reddit, but the concept of points increasing or decreasing based on reactions are a bit concerning.

People that care so much about karma are mistaken. We all have from time to time bad takes. That doesn't mean we are worth less.

It's more of a gimmick then? If so then that's alright.

Reddit's downvoting system is very easily abusable and misses the point of its original function actually.

Yeah I'm not sure what the point of an upboat system is on a forum. I think this is the first one I use that has such a thing.

most xenforo based forums have upvote systems anilist has a like but no downvote system and mal if it had one would have made the site even more shittier than it already is and thats saying alot.

the "social credit system" here doesn't inhibit your ability to post, your title, and whatnot, and it's not immediately visible on someone's posts either

there are people with negative scores, so certain reacts lead to lower score

it's something that can matter if you want it to matter, but generally doesn't, because there's plenty of people who joined this forum to sperg and fuck around, then kinda changed to regular actual posting

then again, there is a leaderboard if you want to post and try to be at the top, but i only found out about that last week

It can be good on larger forums that use as a baseline for allowing stuff, but I don't think it matters here.

Of course you can also have some people sperg out about it, like it happened on Kiwifarms a while back.
