Edit: The likelyhood of it not being Nintendo is higher after some people claim it's some no lifer named Aaron doing this. I can't see this ending well for him if true.
So Nintendo seems to have noticed, that people like to use some of their characters in Garry's Mod. In a move that nobody could've expected they sent a DMCA, leading 20 YEARS of workshop content being purged.

Honestly, this is fair enough. This is Nintendo's content and what they allow and don't allow is up to them. They don't want you playing with that stuff in Garry's Mod - that's their decision, we have to respect that and take down as much as we can.
This is an ongoing process, as we have 20 years of uploads to go through. If you want to help us by deleting your Nintendo related uploads and never uploading them again, that would help us a lot.
Now I don't want to defend Nintendo on this (since this is just really stupid), but the reason is very likely that stupid part of copyright law where you have to defend your copyright or you loose it. Of course there is also some talk that it is a DMCA troll, but I doubt it since Nintendo is the worst legal entity to impersonate.
Anyways. If you play GMod and have some Nintendo stuff downloaded it might be a good time to back that shit up and upload it somewhere accessible.
