The last week or so has been quite a surprise when it comes to things on the internet.

Elon Musk is desperate to make Twitter a worse platform and paygating it. But more interesting is that the Zucc made a microblogging (yes that is what these platforms are actually called) platform himself called Threads.

Now 80 million users already "signed up" to the platform, even though you just use your already existing instagram account. Now I know that most people really don't care about their own data and how this is just another way to farm theirs, but I really don't see how this can beat something like e.g. Mastadon. People always complain how Mastadon is clunky to use, but at the same time Threads follows the current trend in tech to release an alpha version and just update it until its in beta and call it finished.

Is the draw, that you don't need a new account? If that's the case then wow have people become lazy.
Do people just hate Musk? Well in that case Zucc is probably 10 times worse!

Also it is exclusive to phones and doesn't have a web interface!

But the thing that I wonder the most is, how this is supposed to be any different than Twitter. I see it having the same retards using it, the same drama happening and the same CP problem cropping up as with Twitter.

I though the idea behind Twitter was a "solved problem", but apparently not. I haven't heard anything about Hive Social (another Twitter like platform) since all the VTweeters complained about leaving Twitter and needing a new platform.

All in all this falls in the same category as all the other social media platforms. I'm done with them and at most might use the Fediverse, but nothing else!

Also it doesn't pass the EUs Privacy laws, so it might never arrive in the EU.

Will any of you be using it? Will it die within a year? Are you already singing up?

Wait. It already has a cp problem?
Then what was the point of not allowing nsfw content to begin with?

Imo this is just gonna be another flavour of the month "twitter alternative" that gets quicly forgotten like gab or another that pop up some months ago but I cant quite remember its name.

Humans, by nature, do not like change(this is also why people havent moved to the fediverse or mastodon) and so unless musk fucks up (even more)royally, I dont see any pf these new sites lasting too long.

One of the more well known ones:

Safer for advertisers.

that gets quicly forgotten
I think Zucc might be able to push it through and make it a staple for all the people that use Insta, FB, etc.

I feel like a boomer because I don't understand why people use these twitter-like platforms to begin with.
Clout maybe? Early adopters usually don't have to bring as much talent, but in this case it's weird, since it feels like it's a Twitter frontend for Instagram rather than it's seperate thing.

Edit:
Instagram also already has a Pedo problem, where pedos will pose as "hot young teens" and flirt with attention seeking girls (since thats what makes insta popular to begin with). Another one I discovered myself while my mothers showed me her instagram is people leaving comments under pictures of children like they arw friends or other children who are commenting like "my bestie and I also love to play in the pool" which acts as a dog whistle. When you then go on their account it leads to only children at pools, during gymnastics, etc.

I meant on threads.
Everyone knows twitter has a cp problem. About a year ago I read a news article about someone reporting footage of themselves taken by predators and twitter refusing to take action.

Sideone: I do not trust anything the cunt mutahar publishes, he could say the sky is blue and I would not believe him

Oh. I meant it as in "I see that it will happen in the future" not as in "I see it right now"

Yeah he is quite annoying and at heart a Pajeet, but in cases like this it at least brings some eyes to the problem.
