What are some good JRPGs that AREN'T censored and have mostly faithful localizations?

I don't necessarily mean new ones either. I've come to find out that a lot of my favorite classics (such as FF9 and SoA) have dodgy localizations and/or are censored, so now I'm wondering... what are some good, classic (or even pretty good modern ones) JRPGs that have no censorship and a good localization? Games with patches to fix the censorship/localization issues are fair too. Suggestions?

To be honest, it's very hard to recommend anything these days, especially newer games. They all have basically some form of pushing a fake narrative, and going full on Westernization has become the norm.

Imo most older jrpgs are pretty alright in that aspect, obviously none of them are going to be 1 to 1 with the original japanese but, usually do not include cringy nonsense like modern loc. does.

As for newer games, I wouldnt be to sure sadly I think the best you could do is look fro videos of the game and see how it is.

Older 90s titles pretty much is terribly localized. But times were different. Hey i hate shitty localization as anyone else, but 90s were wild times, when one dude were suppose to translate gigantic JRPG withing like month of work. ALONE.
It doesn't excuse shit they produced, but at least it give context why its shit.

Problem of modern localizations is that they are localized with budget and propper teams... But still shit.

Overall if you want faithfull go for japanese versions. Most JRPGs are easily fall in Young Adult category of writting so not hard to learn Japanese for them.

Well, considering the outrage about "problematic dialogue" from the typical journo scum about the rereleases of Persona 3 and Persona 4, I'd say maybe those? Can't say for sure though because I haven't seen anyone actually comparing it to the JP script. Then again, the fact that I haven't may also be an indicator of its faithfulness.

Atelier series is pretty safe. They are popular but still niche enough that I haven't seen far-left wing zealots bitching about it nor working as a localiser to fuck it up. Older Atelier series seemed to be typical save-the-world JRPG but from on PS3 generation, they switched to cutesy slice of life with moe characters. While this series has mild fanservices, it doesn't seem bad enough for westerners to complain about. But now with the latest game, I worry about it becoming more popular and bringing some bad actors.

lol no Atelier is not safe, it was NISA-ified. They changed the name of the character Esty Erhard to Esty Dee because "lol it sounds like STD"

I didn't even think of that but other than that, I don't think there were much controversy with more current titles.

Gaiten Megami Tensei would not have been able to be made today as it had alot of edgy shit and no way any wokealizer would work on that.
