Introduction:
8chan.moe is an Alt-Chan jannied by Mark Mann and funded by Acidfag (of Gamergate infamy, the pair are somehow even more scuffed than m00t and WTCsnacks or even the duo of null & copypaste who sought to take over once discussion on the fappening was deemed verboten.)
Recently when Mark Mann (board owner of /v/ and a paid jannie under the Watkins regime) appeared alongside Fredrick Brennan and Aubrey Kirtaner
(420chan and alleged founder of anonymous.) In a documentary about Q and fringe culture this includes wizchan, 8chan, incels, hackers and 4chan.
This coupled with julayworld banning loli put 8chan.moe under a lot of scrutiny from anons all across the webring.

8chan.moe / (a) is an outgrowth birthed from the ashes of 8chan proper founded by Fredrick Brennan.
Despite Acidfag and Mark Mann being jewish themselves, one of the sites slogans is "where loli is free speech and Hitler did nothing wrong".
(Mark Mann /cow/ thread here) the board owner for 8chan /v/ during the height of /gamergate/.
One of the most important bits to know about Mark is his desperation to be a jannie (Mark even used to have slapfights with null which often resulted in null DDoSing /v/ instead of coding infinity next).
Being a janitor is all Mark (who fun fact was blamed by a mass murderer in their manifesto) desires even after he was paid by Jim Watkins to test some nebulous code, all this after his failure to secure infinity next, similar to his feud with gook m00t this would go on for years.
Now it has been alleged with the funds Mark received for ostensibly being a jannie he and acidfag bought the domain 8chan.moe & 8chan.se so he could be the board owner of /v/ once again.

Summary/Overview:
Of course the former 8chan was ran by Fredrick Brennan known to board fags as copypaste, yet once he decided to fully flirt with infamy Fredrick shed the copypaste persona and Hotwheels was born (Hotwheels when he wrote for the daily Stormer and surprise surprise no one got the joke) the other global mod was null or Joshua Conner Moon (who ran wizchan.org with Fredrick Brennan an imageboard focused on NEETs & loveshys)
When null made 9chan.tw (ran on the infamous infinity next software) Mark demanded loli for the board and full control over /v/ null said no since his experience with 8chan made him hate weebs.
There is a feud between the current iteration of /cow/ & 8chan.moe, the issue was addressed in part by gahoole the board owner for /tv/ on kiwifarms.net. screencaps below the graph.

Julay.world banned loli, quickly after Mark Mann allowed a /loli/ board which might not have been an issue if it weren't tainted by being hosted side by side with a /hebe/ board.
Now these boards existed on the old 8chan (null even leaked a load of ips from "paedo boards" for teh lulz?) but were gotten rid of when Jim Watkins tried to monetize 8chan, he'd go onto try the same with 8kun.

Damn, that's quite an interesting story. I was aware of the new 8chan from an old OAG article from early 2020 when loli was banned on 8kun & folks mass migrated to this new 8chan. I knew of it but I never went there since I wasn't interested and also I don't browse the chan sites more than 4chan's /a/, /g/ boards for anime images, some tech tips or just tech news. Maybe sometimes some wallpaper boards or /ylyl/ threads but other than that all that autistic shit between discord jannie trannies and turbo /pol/acks doesn't only not attract me, but it repels me.
I did hear that a few of the old 8chan's boards were filled with actual sick chomos but I heard that after the Wallmart shooting already happened and it was nuked

Yes, there was crossover between /hebe/ & /loli/ also, Mark Mann replied to the kiwi farms 8chan.moe thread, acidfag hasn't yet that's to be expected.
Mark even appeared in the Q documentary. I'll get screencaps of Mark's post later since KF is being ddosed, it costs them 2k an hour by the way lol.

The internet in of itself is just a place to get information it's not really good or bad, are you talking about social media, if so it's always been not too good.

People shouldn't really have too much of an emotional connection to these sites especially considering social media is just a place where people piss around and say things just cause they can

You can make people care about literal nonsense online, even on imageboards if you just spam it hard enough and have a bit of charisma, I've done it before on 8chan. All I can say is the mindset of imageboard users are wierd.

And that site and the webring was just made for people who couldn't cope with 8gag dying , nevertheless I think 8chan the original site and Ron is more intriguing than 4chan.

Whilst I don't know the reason why he decided to do it, he probably just wanted to fuck around but didn't think it would become serious, with people unironically trying to storm the capitol.

It also seems like the guy was only running 8kun to larp as q for fun, he left the site after the capitol raid happened and didn't really care about the rest of the site.

Also the fact he infected qboomers with a virus after the whole incident, he is practically just fucking with them at this point lol.

The internet hasn't been that way for 10-15 years. And it isn't suprising since most people who use the internet like sites that are easy to access and has a large userbase. That's the reason why most people don't use sites like bitchue etc.

Personally in my opinion it isn't a bad thing, now it's incredibly easy to find a bunch of information.

Also I doubt any of us have been on the internet in the very early 2000s and the late 1990's during that wild west. Most of the people on this site seem to be under the age of 30.

I'm a old fag, me and pepperidge farms are buddies. I've also seen multiple Eternal Septembers.

I think a huge part of it is the centralization of the internet around the big tech sites or more precisely social media which people already mentioned in this thread. The moderation due to them being central places is a lot "easier" rather then dealing with all the forums you used to have back in the days. Got banned on one forum you either made new account or moved to another.

Another factor is the whole progressive SJW cancer that has been spreading years now combined with Big Tech gotta have a clean and proper platform for muh advertisers. Its why moderation on these central big tech sites has become more NO MORE FUN ALLOWED. Except, for those on the "right" side of history which explains why the moderation isn't even consistent.

As for information yes that is a lot easier to find, personal info that is. I see people post the same retarded shit like back in the old days except, now using the social media account complete with IRL name and all the photos. Cue surprised pikachu face when people dig up their trash posts and get shit for it. So you can partly blame the people using the internet for this.

So yeah the internet might not be the Wild West of the old days but its not completely gone though. You just won't find the Wild West on the Big Tech sites and places with thin skinned moderators.
