Amazon Banning Innocent Anime Figures for “Child Pornography”https://www.sankakucomplex.com/2021...innocent-anime-figures-for-child-pornography/
Amazon has further expanded its “initiative” on banning anime figures on the false excuse that they are apparently child pornography, the items in question being nothing of the sort and not even remotely suggestive.A distributor of anime figures drew attention to the matter once again on Twitter, sharing emails sent by Amazon informing him that they have ousted his figures (even Nendoroids) from the site:

The emails note the products were removed for either “promoting child exploitation” or “depicting children or characters resembling children in a sexually suggestive manner”, but as one trap-loving Twitter user has proven, the expunged figures do neither:

This, of course, is not the first time Amazon has unjustly labeled these harmless figurines as “sexual depictions of children”, as they have delisted this user’s figures before in the past.

The removal is only further part of the narrative against anime-style visuals, as the now Western-controlled Sony has been unfairly censoring titles for having sexy anime visuals on past occasion, despite mainstream Western titles with the same level of sexiness getting a pass.

I am aware that this is not the first time this is happening just like the Article is pointing out but this is just beyond stupid.

p.s. And I figured we needed a thread about amazon and other online stores behavior of anime related stuff in general I fear this will not be the last time we have to talk about amazon in regards to this stuff that's way i made the title more general.

Makes me wonder if this is why Ottman sperged out about loli being on Minds. For all we know this same policy might end up being done on the AWS part of the company as well.

Lemme see, what do I think of this subject?
I saw it coming like, I don't know, years ago?
I just didn't think it'll come from this direction specifically, I thought it'll be the culture war, and while it is, it seems off in some ways. Let's not forget this isn't only lolicon, but it's generally anime, so I think it's an economic move, maybe to pressure the influential culture of anime.
Like what's with the sudden shift when this is in no way illegal and no new laws have come up? Yeah, it makes no sense, right? What, is Twitter suddenly their moneymaking method that would dry up since "oh no, pedophilia on amazon" screechers see it?
Maybe anime has become too big and not really that controllable, because even Shitflix has "Shitflix" Anime that still has the obvious Japanese culture. Maybe they're trying to make them change this shit since these "techgiants" sure love to interfere with people's lives in every way.

The worst part is, is that Amazon has literal photobooks of nude minors on their site, which only stays up because it's ""photography"" and ""art"", how could anyone ever buy that for SEXUAL pleasure? That's not child exploitation, but non lewd anime figurines are. Literal clown world.

I use places like nin nin game or other online retailers like that specialize in otaku merch all the way from Japan instead of amazon and yeah can't say i was really a fan of amazon.

We should all stop using it and have a good loss and hopefully bankruptcy is filed and everyone ends up on the street selling hot dogs ...
ok just relax:hibiki-chew: amazon piece of shit

What's actually a good place to order fumos, figures and similar merch in EU?
Anyway its just amazon being itself, you can always find way better stuff on local sites or ebay.

I've good experience's with iXu Deviance. Their based in France.

Archonia. Kinda pricey and their packaging was trash last time i ordered there but i haven't ordered from them in ages so maybe they fixed that. Based in Belgium.

Otaku-planete. Their website is trash but they sometimes have good deals. Based in France.

Sites like Play-Asia, Good Smile Company shop, Solaris Japan, Jlist, and using proxies like White Rabbit Japan or Neokyo are what I used to get my imports. Amazon JP is different from the western Amazon, so one should be okay buying through that. But never hurts to stay cautious and find out about what has bootlegs.

I care about this, because what I hate even more than oligopolistic giants like Amazon are taxes!
Ordering almost anything of value directly form JP comes with a 50-100bux import tax, which I have to pay to the shipping guy in cash...
So I can't even reliably determine beforehand how much the tax will be (>inb4 look at this 200page document from the ministry of trade).

The cool thing about Amazon is that they have warehouses all over the place, and this means that even if you order something from Amazon.X from country Y, the product might be in a warehouse in your country Y and you end up with fast shipping + no extra import taxes.
I had really hoped Amazon would develop its offer with more things from JP, including anime related stuff... But I guess I was wrong to hope.

You can simply calculate the added costs by adding your countries sales tax to the price plus the administration costs of your parcel service. For example last time i checked DHL charged 17 euro's administration costs.

In case of Amazon (and many other other companies using warehouses in Europe like Play Asia) the sales tax is often added to the price anyway so you only save money on the administration costs and sometimes lower shipping costs.
The only way to dodge the tax entirely is to ask a Japanese shop to undervalue below 20 euro's because many countries don't bother taxing anything below 20 euro's. But this has its own risks like customs calling bullshit and inspecting your package so you have to send them the bill and pay up anyway if you're unlucky.

Ebay will also ban all "Sexually explicit anime, comics, books, films, animation, manga, hentai, yaoi" content despite stating that they only ban nudity (or see-through/tight clothes).

With this they can basically ban all anime figures that don't wear oversized clothes that hide all sex features. Welcome to halal Ebay 2021!

Also funny how Sexual Play Magazines are okay if no nude is there but not with weeb stuff.

I feel like the prejudices against anime-esque or weeb anything is because of all the puritanical action that we see all over the world. This shit started with some Karens from Australia and it spread rapidly fast since then in 'Straya, big corpos (Amazon, now ebay), social groups, online groups etc. I think this is gonna only continue.

Everyday Shimoneta becomes more and more of a realistic depiction of what the future might bring.

Welp. At least I don’t use EBAY. So this doesn’t affect me too much. Since if I want to buy a nendoroid I’ll probably just import it using like Buyee or something.

The likely correct assumption is mastercard/visa (and paypal maybe) forced them to do this. just like the recent bullshit last month with their new rules on porn regulations.

Someone on twitter and 4chan keeps mentioning the anti-sex trafficking bill FOSTA/SESTA (I read it, don't know how this affects porn vids and fiction but playboy gets a pass if one assumes "nah girls hate porn, she was forced to strip/fuck") plus every goddamn site that sells this stuff like jlist and fakku would be fucked too and we'd hear about it by now.

cryptocurrency adoption must happen now if these types of sites wish to survive.

It seems to me that these sites are throwing themselves against the wall, they just make more and more people think about the advancement of crypto assets and stop buying from these sites and without using the shitty services of paypall and shit.
I really keep saying that we have to do something with these people, these companies are doing stupid things that in the end they are not going to benefit them and probably thinking that if ... I don't know what they have in mind

There is currently a puritan hysteria disguised as "protect the kids" and "stop misogyny". Both are used quite well by the same puritans who wanted porn banned for dozens of years, which is funny in a very sad way.
The long term consequences I half expect from this is a schism for internet, with one shiny public very "clean" front for normies, and people reverting to less user friendly, or more obscure communities to discuss between people of culture.
And really, I can't wait for all these services to ban nsfw altogether in a way, especially the generalist social networks, as I'm tired of soccer moms turning tyrants after discovering that yes, there are sexual kinks outside of missionary in the dark, and yes, people like to draw that..

The Interim Director of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) talked about eBay's recent decision and its implications in an interview. He goes as far as to compare it to the Comic Code Authority in potential impact and scope. It honestly goes to show how both manga and comic creatives should really be in this together, unfortunately way too many people who should know better don't agree with that sentiment.

For some historical background on the CCA in the US and censorship of comics in general:

EDIT: Oh hey, it gets better.
